I just dug out some GROUNDBREAKING NEWS,
dealing with the future of the X-COM series!

May our prayers finally have been heard!

There WILL be another X-COM game after Alliance,
and this X-COM game WILL return to...

THE ORIGINAL SQUAD COMBAT FORMULA!

Remember where you saw it first!

This info was given to me by a reliable source
within Microprose, named Dave Ellis.

As to when this game will be out, he couldn't say.
Neither could he give any details.

Still.. This is one great step for X-COM!

Andrew Dudzik was so kind as to mail me a review he did
on Interceptor. Though it is quite comprehensive, it only
contains minor spoilers. Have a look.

25
A brand new review of Interceptor has appeared at GameSpot.

22
In case you did not know, here are the Minimum System
Requirements for X-COM: Interceptor:

133MHz Pentium compatible or faster,
with 3-D graphics accelerator,

Or

166MHz compatible without graphics accelerator,

And

Windows 95, 16MB RAM, quad-speed CD-ROM drive,
16-bit color graphics, DirectX compatible sound card.

21
You lucky folks over in the US can get Interceptor
at just about any store. We Europeans have to wait
a couple of weeks I guess.. What a bad deal indeed.

If any of you guys "over there" would like to share
your opinion on Interceptor, then feel free to mail me
and tell me what you think. I'll post it in this section.

Meanwhile have a look at my newly added Links.
I have posted an X-COM review, a Tim White page,
and The X-COM Web Presence Chronology.

INTERCEPTOR IS OUT!

Well the day has come. The first place to announce
having the fourth X-COM game in stock, is EB.
In other words, Electronics Boutique.
Thanks for this info John Yuen.

Any day now could be Interceptors release day,
so keep on looking at those shelves for the newest
addition to the X-COM gaming experience.

Since last update I have done some work on the
Links section. Now there's a bunch of reviews and
previews awaiting your attention. Furthermore, there
has been added a Demos page, to my Files section.

I recently came across the X-COM: Interceptor box-cover.
So if you haven't seen it yet, then this is how it looks.

Now this Monday I start on my sommerjob, which I've
got for a month or so. So it will be a bit buisy for me.
In addition there's the World Cup in soccer going on,
but I'll try to update as often as I can.

I would be very pleased if you out there that get
a hold of Interceptor, mail me as soon as you can,
and I'll see to it that the rest of us know where it
hit the shelves and when.

Well, I got to fill up my Links section with some Personal Sites
yesterday that I think are quite good. It's not that many out
there anymore which got a somewhat frequent update.
But anyway lets not mourn about that now.

PcGamer had this to report recently:

Microproses X-COM: Interceptor has mastered and sent
for duplication. It should arrive in stores on about June 15.

And those interested in soccer should know what's going down
today. The opening of the World Cup. Yahhooooo!

I finished the History section today, and I'm quite satisfied
with the outcome. This part of the XCOManiac site gives a short
but quite allright introduction to the history of X-COM.

All the key elements are there to some degree, and it should give
a better understanding of who started it all, and which companies
made which games. If you have something to add, or want
to comment on what I have written, then please mail me.

Well it finally happened. I'm back attending my XCOManiac site.

Much has happened since last update in my news section.
That was way back in July of 1997, almost a year ago.

Since my sections were very outdated, there are not much
in them at the time. This I will see too when I get the chance.

Although I'm back, don't expect the heavy
update frequency that I maintained last year.
Since I'm a student with upcoming exams, and there's
a worldcup in soccer going on, my time will be limited.
To be realistic, weekly updates would be the most likely
frequence of this News Section. Though this off course
will vary with how buissy I am, and what's going on.

As you might have noticed there have been some changes
in this sites design, and I will continue changing it
bit by bit, until I feel I've got it right.
I'm thinking about new sections, and off course
filling up the ones currently empty.

In time this site will grow up to be one of
the truly greatest out there. And even if I
should not be able to update for long periods
of time, then I won't pull my site down, but rather
let it be on the net as the X-COM archive that it is.

For the nostalgic of you, have a look at this site maintained
by Rakki, which chronologically lists all the events
in the X-COM world up to May this year.

A lot of news has surfaced lately, but there are two
that ranks above all other:

- X-COM: Interceptor recently has gone gold and will
hit the shelves soon.

- Microprose announced that X-COM: Alliance will continue
the X-COM saga, while being the 5th game in the series.

If there should be anything at all you want to bring
to my attention, then please drop me a mail.
