The cables are an important
part of the bike, and even important for the handling. If the cables on your bike isn't
tip top, you will most likely not be in full control of your bike. Cables should run
freely, and without any friction. If you notice your cables while riding, their most
likely not taken good enough care of.

So, how to fix it:
Make sure that the steering isnt interfeered by the cables.
Make sure there are no sharp bends on the cables.
Throttle-cables must not cross eachother.
Oil the cables, In other words remove the cable at the bar end, use a cable oiler, and oil
the cable 'till its dripping from the other end.
Adjust the freeplay of the cable. This should be check regularly, cuz the wire will
stretch some.
For the throttlecables you fill the lower part of the housing with lubricant, and twist
the throttle for a couple of minutes
Remove throttle cable slack, to the point were the throttle is flly closed, and there are
no freeplay.
Lube the pivot points on the carburettors. Lot of dirt/brake & road dust will stick in
there. Clean it up, and things will work better.
And finally lube the speddometer and tachometer wire. |
