Jim Morrison's career as a rock and roll star may have started on a beach in Venice, but the spiritual Morrison was born on a lonely highway in the desert at a young age. Morrison described the incident in "Peace Frog" (Morrison Hotel); "Indians scattered on Dawn's Highway bleeding, ghosts crowd the young child's fragile egg-shell mind." The "spirits" of the dead Indians often took control of Jim during The Doors' performances and earned him the nickname "The Electric Shaman." He took control of of his hypnotised audience just as an Indian shaman would his patients. Jim also believed that he was living out people's greatest fears and inner-most desires on-stage. The things people did not have time to deal with in everyday life were portrayed by Morrison during the performances.
