Tamiya 14083 Suzuki RGV500 converted into 2001 version.

This project started in July 2001, finished July 16 2001.
I have been a Kenny roberts fan for two years now, and i was delighted wen he became world champion in 2000.
I was thrilled when Tamiya released the 2000 edition of the RGV, and even more so when studio 27 announced the 2001 decal conversion wich includes new (tobacco what else) sponsor Fortuna in addition to main sponsor Telefonica Movistar. Halfway thru the season this bike have'nt been better placed than 6th, lets hope that changes soon.
the decals cost 1600 yen, almost as much as the kit so the price is fairly high.

Preparation
Just cleaned up the parts and that's that

Painting
I used three coats ofBoyds true blue pearl on all the bodywork and (after decaling) a couple of coats of Modeler's clear and my usual metalizers as described in earlier projects.

Decaling
The kit decals are superb, very rich in color and easy to lay down using only a hot towel to bend them around sharp edges.
The S27 decals was treated with some aero set decal solution and laid down perfectly. No probles here.

Detailing
I added a 2D sensor to the front fork made from guitar string and tamiya's plastic tube, drilled out the holes in the top of the forks and replaced some cables with thinner ones from Modeler's.

General
Very nice kit recommended highly, maybe Tamiya's best so far, as well as good but pricy decals wich made a kit that's a bit special and even better looking than the 2000 edition.
