Tamiya 14048, Yamaha SRX-6.

This project started mid January 2001, finished February 2.
This is a welcome change from all the GP bikes, Yamaha's very cool single cylinder naked 600. A friend in Paris has one of those and I reckon it's an ideal townsbike.

Detailing
Not too much here, the kit has lots of details already, but here's what I added:
-Replaced sliding part of rear shocks with harpsichord wire .
-Replaced oil cooler pipes with harpsichord wire and redesigned them a little.
-Drilled and cut the grooves on the brake discs.
-Added wrinkled texture to the seat using coaster's method.
-Added brackets to the rear footpegs made from guitar string

Painting
I first finished this bike in TS-16 gloss aluminium, but changed my mind since my Katana has that color and used Gunze Sangyo metallic blue instead. I used Modeler's super clear for a clear coat, just as nice as the other modeler's laquers.

Here's the colours I've used:
Bodywork: Gunze sangyo Mr. color #76 metallic blue..
Frame: Alclad II steel
Rear swing, front forks, cylinder: Alclad II aluminium
Engine cases, outer wheel rim: Alclad II highly polished aluminium
Front fork (sliding part) light, mirrors: Alclad II chrome.
Brake calipers, exhaust, wheels: Model Master Buffing Gun Metal
Brake discs: Alclad II alu, then shaded with Alclad II steel.
And of course lots of other small details and stuff.

Construction
Pretty straight forward kit to build, everything goes together smoothly.

Conclusion:
A great kit that I recommend to all. Nice details include real springs for the rear shocks and a exhaust cover plate made from metal:
