Tamiya 14071 becoming a Max Biaggi '98 Honda NSR.
Started 15 February 2000. Here's the bike I want to build:

The first thing I had to do was to sand down
the Repsol finished bike. I started with 240 grit paper, then
400, then 600 and finally 1000. Now it looks ready for
some Tamiya plastic primer.
I have to do some work on the chassis as well, here's what it
looks like now:

The forks have a finish that does not look like
the real thing at all, my early work was done in a hurry and
without the necessary tools and paints.
Update 23. February:
After sanding down the Repsol finish (phew) the
bodywork has been painted gloss white. I'll let this cure for
a week before I sand it down.
Update 19. March:
It's been a while since worked on this
bike, because I had to look for the right red color for the bodywork.
Coaster suggested Tamiya Bright red TS lacquer, but I found a
can of Humbrol bright red which I emptied and sprayed on thru
the airbrush. Humbrol enamels look good and the canned version
is perfectly thinned for airbrush use, saves a lot of work. The
finish looks OK, but there is one overrun which I have to fix.
I'll let the red cure for a week before I continue with the bodywork.
Update 13 July:
Oh, ist's been quite a while since last time,
and since last time 've painted the body and applied the decals.
At that point the project stranded because the Studio27 decals
for the tank (Honda wings on the sides and top Marlboro logo)
are fluorescent red/orange rather than bright red, and it just
looked totally wrong. I am putting the project aside until I
know what to do.
The tank looks like this.
Here's a picture of some of the bodywork loosely
test-fitted to the chassis:
