Heller kits 80920 and 80922
This project started july 2002, completed july 2002.
I got these kits recently, and decided to build them together. I was also building the 80921 YZR kit at the same time but I ran into some decal problems wich prevented me from finishing it.

Preparing and painting the bodywork
The moulds for these small kits is not Tamiya quality, so close inspection and some sanding is needed. I also filled the big holes in the fairing meant for attaching it to the frame, deciding to just glue the fairing to the frame. I masked off the windshield wich is integrated into the fairing and painted the RGV with a mix of Telefonica blue and light metallic blue first, before shading in a deeper toned mix of the same paints to try and get some life into the very small 1/24 scale bodywork. The NSR received TS-16 yellow and TS-Deep metallic blue respectively.

Decaling
The decals was a mixed bag, some of the telefonica logos was way too dark, and some of the smaller decals like the suzuki logo on the tank started to fall apart. The big main decals were fine and generally they were fun to apply and took a lot of decal sol abuse without cracking up. They were a bit transparent too but what can You expect at this price?

Detailing
I added a few wire strands to simulate brake cables, and used a litte bit of carbon decals wich I took from a reji 1/12 scale Marlboro yamaha decal kit. Otherwise I tried to paint and wash the kit to bring out some detail, but there's not to much to be found in such a small sized and cost effective package.

Summary
FUN, FUN, FUN. I enjoyed these small bike kits very much. There's riders in them too, complete with decals and everything. As You can see in the pix I've buildt mr. Rossi, And probably will build mr. Roberts as well.
