Aoshima naked bike 24, Honda Dream50.

This project started early January 2001, finished February 2.
This kit was buildt more or less alongside the SRX-6, I wanted to build a motorcycle with spoked wheels so that I could try to resoke them, and the choice fell on this kit because it was an Aoshima kit wich I had'nt buildt any of yet and because it's a cool bike.

Detailing
I replaced the spokes with 016 electric guitar string, cutting out a few kit spokes at a time and glueing in the new ones made from the string, the job took several hours to do.
The other small thing I did was to add some guitar string to simulate bare wire coming out of the plastic tubing at the clutch.

Painting
I started with oven cleaner, removing all kit chrome and painting those parts with TS-14 gloss black, preparing them for a coat of Alclad or Model Master metalizer.
Here's the colours I've used:
Bodywork: Tamiya TS_45 Pearl white, applied with the airbrush of course..
Frame: Tamiya TS-8 Italian red
Cylinder: Alclad II magnesium
Exhaust pipes, wheel rims mirrors, rear shocks, light, blinkers etc: Alclad II chrome.
Brake calipers, engine : Model Master Buffing Gun Metal
Brake discs: Alclad II steel.
carburettor: Alclad II aluminium
Front forks: Bare metal foil, brite chrome for the sliding part and matte alu for the part below that.

Construction
Almost Tamiya quality, and some parts have even higher detail. The mudguards took a bit of sanding after I glued them together.
The decals are not of Tamiya quality though, and the nice blue clock decals are too small and does not look too convincing.

Conclusion:
A great little kit, recommended!
