Our guide and advicer the second day will be Georg Coenen. Oliver Ginsberg has made a great job to grow further the ideas behind the adventure playgrounds and city-farm projects in Berlin. Hartmuth Meyer-Buck working in the Kulturministerkonferenz as researcher and architekt has together with others, among them architekt Jürgen Koch, made a lot of very important and inspiring books and reports on school-planning and small neighbour-hood sportsplaces for all ages. (See list of litterature and reports down under!) We will arrange a meeting with the artist Anne Ochmann who has made several beautiful "Wasser-Spiel-Kunst" projects together with children in schools. We will also bring with as some new projectexperiences from Scandinavia, since Asbjørn Flemmen, from Norway and Benny Schytte (Danish Playground Association) both are joining the group. We will most certainly also get a visit from Helen Tyas Tungall, Australia. We will therefore arrange an early evening with an inspiring exchange of project experiences and materials. The stay in Berlin will also give you time and good opportunities to visit other places and focus more on your special interests on the last day of the studytrip. More details will be sent you as soon as you mark interest by giving feedback to this preliminary information. PRELIMINARY PROGRAM 1) Wednesday 24.april: 5 visits to adventure playgrounds and city farms. Guide Oliver Ginsberg 2) Thursday 25.april: 5-6 schoolsites. Guide Georg Coenen, Grün Macht Schule. Visual information about their work with schoolgrounds in Berlin at their office. 3) Friday 26.april: Schoolyards with special sport equipments, site for handicapped childrens, interesting parkelements. Travel (T/R) expensies, travel tickets in Berlin and accomodation will come in addition. The participators must themselves organise the travelling T/R Berlin. We will arrange common bustrips in Berlin with local and very competent german guides. English will be the main language. We will have a very good translator with us on all the bustrips and visits around: Oliver Ginsberg. We will have early evening meetings at the office of Grün Macht Schule on the first and second day, where the participants will exchange experiences and we will have some contributions from Norway (Asbjørn Flemmen, Frode Svane), Denmark (Benny Schytte), Australia (Helen Tyas Tungall) and USA (Rusty Keeler). We will bring with us on the trip Asbjørn Flemmen, førsteamanensis (assistant professor) at Volda. He is a wellknown playground designer, and he is international known as the father of the "Ski-Play" in Norway. He will describe one of his last projects, at Skudeneshavn school at Karmøy, south-west in Norway, "The Urban Jungle" and other concepts for "real play". We also have the opportunity to hear Benny Schytte, culture sociologist and the leader of the Danish Playground Association. He has a good overview over what has happened with playground developments in Denmark the last 30 years. Childrens Landscape/PedScape, Norway 0047 23390960 0047 92669969

PARTICIPANTS (20/4) 1) Rusty Keeler 2 (artist and designer, father of Planet Earth Playscapes), 2) Asbjørn Flemmen (Playwork Designer and the father of the "Ski-play projects" in Norway, also known from this project in Skudeneshavn, Karmøy, 3) Benny Schytte (Leader of the Danish Playground Association, lots of projects in Denmark, schools and daynurseries, editor of their newsletter), 4) Helen Tyas Tunggal (The School Landscape Trust, Australia), 5) Nina Medén-Britth (Landscape architect, Sweden,) 6) Pia Englund, landscape architect, SCC Sverige AB, 7) Camilla Gyllang, landscape architect, SCC Sverige AB, 8) Sarah Eve Patrick, Master's degree in Education.Havard, USA. Leaders: 9) Frode Svane, Childrens Landscape. 10) Øyvin Vestre, Ped Landscape, Aktiv Arena, Norway Grün Macht Schule has developed a lot of interesting materials: slides-programs, videos and books and reports. It is the meaning that the participators on the trip shall learn to know very well the experiences of Grün Macht Schule and this material. There is no organisation in Scandinavia with such a capacity, and working in such a concrete way. We have, though, the pedagogical consultant group in Lund municipality in Sweden, "Naturskolan in Lund", with 3 persons employed, among them Anders Kjellsson. Naturskolan in Lund has been able to develope a very efficient and inspiring communication concept on the net, dealing very openly and kindly their project experiences with descriptions, pictures and drawings. This is the way to get the snowball to roll! We have just started thinking about establishing a consulting group in Norway, that might cover the whole country. From the starting point I am the Norwegian representative of the IPA organisation, and we will try to strengthen the networks in this field in Norway, and combine all good energy to work more efficient towards the schools and the daynurseries. But we are also very concerned about the matters of childrens and youths interest in planning processes and participation in general.
