Updated Dec 2005
Below are freight times during the time Jitong railways used steam locomotives. With the introduction of diesels during 2002 to 2005, the trains have been accelerated.
This page shows typical freight times. As freight scheduling at Jitong railways is done by improvisation, these times can only be taken as a rough guide. Arrival at other stations can be estimated using this information. Source: The internal Jitong timetable.
In practice especially the heavier westbound trains need about an hour more than shown here. For passenger trains see the passenger timetable.
Benhong - Baiqi 6.30 hours
Baiqi - Haoluku 5.50 hours
Haoluku 0:00
Passing Majiazi 1:05
Jingpeng 1:27 to 1:46 (water stop)
Xiakengzi 2:07
Shangdian 2:49
Liudigou 3:00
Galadesitai 3:26
Yuzhoudi 3:49
Linxi 4:10 to 4:25 (inspection stop)
Daban 5:26 (most times, a running time of 5 1/2 hours is quite realistic).
Daban - Chabuga 3.50 - 5.30 hours (about 4 hours is normal).
Chabuga - Zhelimu 4.30 - 5.30 hours
Zhelimu - Chabuga 4.50 - 6.15 hours

Most of the time, steam hauled trains will rather need 10 hours than 6.50!
Haoluku - Baiqi 5.40 hours
Baiqi - Benhong 5:55 - 6:40 hours
Water stops between Chabuga and Haoluku: Lindong, Gulumanhan (only westbound trains), Linxi, Jingpeng.
There exists an official timetable for freight trains, but all I have observed suggests that this timetable is just a rough guideline. The trains may be numbered as in the timetable, with numbers in the 228xx and 441xx series.
Maximum freight load: 2300 tons for QJ (between Daban and Haoluku double traction), eastbound 3000 tons Linxi to Chabuga. (westbound 2300 tons), 3000 tons for DF4 between Baiqi and Benhong. (2800 tons in test period in year 2000). All else 3500 tons for DF4, between Linxi and Menggentala double traction necessary.
From 2004, they are running 4000 tons trains with 2 QJ between Daban and Chabuga. For DF4, the maximum load is 1750 tons per engine on the Daban to Haoluku section, but eastbound from Linxi 4000 tons.
Train numbers:
18xxx and 228xx trains are mixed traffic through trains, not remarshalled en route.
33xxx trains are general freight trains, but I do not know what is special with them.
441xx trains have some shunting here and there.
84xxx trains are block trains with oil carriages, other 8xxxx trains are coal trains or empty open cars. 8xxxx trains have no shunting en route.
51xxx numbers denote light engines, although in practice expected trains can turn up as light engines and vice versa. Often, planned light engines may get a train to pull and train locomotives may get no train, depending on actual running times of the freight trains.
56xxx trains are permanent way work trains.
6xxxx trains are transporting dangerous goods.
Since 2004 they have some trains with a "W" in front of the number. These are trains between Tongliao and Lindong, for transport of coal. The engines will normally run light engine between Daban and Lindong.
