Here are some pictures from all over the Jitong Railway, not only the Jingpeng pass.
A train departing Haoluku station
on its way to Baiqi, with another train just having arrived from
Daban with two engines. (HeLiWen, summer 2000). The other picture is of
Haoluku depot, as seen from a sand dune
between the station and the depot. The line to Baiqi is to the right,
the ash is deposited to the left. Workers accommodations and restaurant
to the right. The engines parked are awaiting their next
service. At this service point were any number of engines between
zero and about ten, but less since dieselization.
The proud crew of QJ 6301. This locomotive is run by some of the best workers of Daban depot. Driver Yang Shi Ku to the right. Here is a view of the whole engine, state of summer 2000.
An overview of the depot at Daban , in February 2001. There is a lot of steam. The large smokestack is from the depot power station. To the right the coaling place with steam cranes, left of it the locomotive service area. In the background mountain NanShan. If you like walking, scrambling up on the top of NanShan is a nice trip.
Sometimes, other things happen in a steam depot. Here , a worker is welding his bicycle in Daban depot, between the steam locomotives. Photo by Ronald Olsen, 31. Jan, 2001.
QJ6478, a very clean engine from Chabuga, just after rolling out of the workshop in Daban depot. The headlights are being adjusted. They were using a new smart painting scheme on the front plate since autumn 2000. In February 2001, QJ 6760 as well as Baiqi-engine 7088 also got fitted a front plate like this.
Here is the depot with waiting engines, one of them, number 6978, starting out. The shunting conductor giving the signal at the switch.
Here is a picture of 6911 at Lindong in November 2001. New ring around smokebox with a new slogan.
Here, QJ 6301 is speeding along between Gulumanhan and Baomutu, with a freight bound for Daban. The herdsman is heading towards a village with his sheep. It is 25 degrees centigrade below zero...
A good area is near Gulumanhan, ( MAP) between Daban and
Lindong. First engine is decorated QJ 6301. It is unusual that
eastbound trains have two engines. Photo by
HeLiWen of Daban depot, summer 2000. Trains run fast, but the road
is good, and you may chase
a train by taxi.
Here
is another picture at the east end of Gulumanhan station, with 6125
waiting to start an eastbound train while QJ 6884 is passing with a
westbound
freight.
This picture is taken at Baomutu on a November day in 2001, just after sunrise. The engine personnel has just cleaned QJ 6301, waiting for the passenger train from Daban.
This picture is from Km 605, just east of Daban, QJ 6631 with the number 6051 passenger train towards Tongliao. On a November day in 2001, just after sunrise, with the new type 25 coaches bought by Jitong railway in summer 2001.
A picture of Chabuga depot, with three engines waiting for their next service towards Daban.
For most pictures, you find the link in the text, for a few of them
I have included thumbnails.
More pictures, most of them with higher quality scan, are on an "angelfire" homepage of mine. See here.
Some pictures, however, are in the photopositions description.
The new diesel
motor unit running between Huhehaote and Daban, photographed by
HeLiWen of Daban depot on its first run in summer 2000. Somewhere far
west on the railway.

The whole train , at Jining Nan. The new Jitong logo is clearly visible at the front of the train.
The advanced public address system . All the cassettes in the locker below are for playing to the passengers.
The interior of the YW car. Only two beds above each other! The leading conductor is sitting here.
The driver seat. The drivers cab during the ride over the Jingpeng pass: speed is 55 km/h maximum at that place.
