THE SALTSTRAUMEN EXPERIENCE

The Saltstraumen experience consists of a cafe with panorama view over the current ,an exhibition and a souvenir shop that also sells fishing equipment.
The souvenir shop also offers other north Norwegian products.

At the exhibition you can see pictures and items with relevance to saltstraumen and the district around.
Among the items at display is the largest coal fish in the world to be taken with a fishing rod and a model that simulates the tidal current.
The center have placed censors in the water that measures the speed of the water , and a computer calculates the amount of water the passes through the sound per second.
The censors also measures the height difference of the water between the inside and the outside of the current.
An other model display what happens when a boat is sucked down by a whirlpool.


The center runs a multimedia show that takes you back in time and shows you some of the dramatic events that took place here.

There are also outdoor activities with barbecue, heritage trails and of course fishing.
Better fishing places than Saltstraumen is hard to come by.
