Tom Gilb

Tom Gilb was born in Pasadena in 1940, emigrated to London 1956, and to Norway 1958, where he joined IBM for 5 years, and where he resides when not traveling. He has mainly worked within the software engineering community, but since 1983 with Corporate Top Management problems, and 1988 with large-scale systems engineering. He is an independent teacher, consultant and writer. He has published eight books, including the early coining of the term "Software Metrics" (1976) which is the basis for SEI CMM Level 4. He wrote "Principles of Software Engineering Management" (1988, now in 13th printing), and "Software Inspection" (1993). Both titles are really systems engineering books in software disguise. His pro-bono systems engineering activities include several weeks a year for US DoD and Norwegian DoD, and Environmental (EPA) and Third-World Aid charities and organizations.

Kai Gilb was born in Norway in 1968. From 1987 lived in South Carolina, Hawaii and Los Angeles for about 5 years where he studied and worked as a commercial pilot and instructor as well as pursuing a career as a professional wind-surfer. Kai did his first course with Tom 1986, and switched career and started full time work with Tom and Result Planning Ltd. in 1992. When not traveling, he now resides in Norway.

He also is the Gilb's main contact for Course arrangement and Consulting all over the world.

Tor Gilb was born in Oslo Norway in 1966. In 1986 he finished 2 years of Business & Social Economy studies in Norwegian Gymnasium. In 1986-7 he was responsible for the personnel computer system of the Norwegian Military Headquarters (F.O. Adm. Huseby). From December1987 he lived in South Carolina and Los Angeles for about 4 years where he studied and worked as a commercial pilot and flight instructor. In 1991 he came back to Norway and converted his Airline Transport Pilot license to Norwegian A.T.P. From 1993 to 1997 Tor had his own Franchise business in Oslo.
Tor has been involved with the methods for many years. He sold his Oslo business in October 1997 and joined Tom & Kai full time. He is now involved with learning the Gilb methods as well as taking over administrative responsibilities. Tor does not travel a lot, as he in 1998 became a father. But he does join courses in Scandinavia.
