How to: Use Quake 2 Maps
Download the file, save it to your hard drive.
Create a folder in your Quake 2's /baseq2/ directory called MAPS. Your directory structure should then look like this:
/quake2/baseq2/maps/
Unzip .bsp file from the file you just downloaded to the above MAPS directory, for example:
You have something.zip, which includes something.txt and something.bsp in it.
Put something.bsp to /quake/baseq2/maps/, so you have:
/quake/baseq2/maps/something.bsp
You should also put something.txt file in the same directory so it's easier to identify the map later on.
Start Quake 2, pull down console (by pressing "~" key) and type:
map something
You should read included text file (something.txt in our example) for any specific instructions, suggestions or notes.
After you are done playing - come back to this site and vote for the file! Other people will then know if thy should download the file and enjoy it, or not waste their time. Feel free to use "Recommend this file" feature to suggest it to your friends.
Note: we recommend using WinZip to unzip files. It allows you to easily drag and drop files from zip files.
