FLD7 - Complex Potential Electric Fields
Finite element solution of flat and axi-symmetric two dimensional
electrostatic fields with combined resistive and capacitive distribution of
potentials. The grids can have up to 30000 nodes.
Potentials are calculated as complex numbers. The
program uses full screen mode, which is available only in Windows XP
and earlier versions.
The program
is used for insulators and bushings with resistive coatings and for surge
arresters. Here, conductivities are functions of field strength, and this can be
handled by the program. Another application is in devices with surface layers
with floating potentials.
Often a large number of configurations are analyzed, where the
geometries are similar and only the coordinates are different. In such cases new
input can be made up based on an existing input file, simply by answering
questions, while the geometry is displayed on the screen. The finite element
grid is modified automatically, to suit program requirements.
