FLD14 - Parallel Layer Air Core Reactors

FLD14 is a subprogram of the general purpose magnetic field program FLD11. It consists basically of an input and an output subroutine for this program. The routines are supplied in Fortran source code and can be modified by the user.

The program assumes that the winding is made of small, transposed conductors. It calculates maximum and average eddy current losses due to axial and radial flux densities.

Based on initial estimates, the program adjusts the numbers of turns in the parallel layers in an iterative procedure to equalize flux linkages with uniform current distribution, and to get the desired reactance. In a practical design the numbers must be rounded, for example to the nearest 1/6. FLD14 can generate an input file for circuit analysis program ACCAN automatically, to make it possible in a very simple way to calculate the currents in each layer after the numbers of turns have been rounded.
