Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

It's midnight and the moon shines over the dark city. Three children crawl across a rooftop. Katie suddenly stops and looks at the sky.

Sean: What are you stopping for?

Katie: [Points] That star, over there.

Sean: So what? Keep moving!

Katie: Maybe that's his lucky star. He needs one.

Sean: Quit worrying, Katie. Come on!

Sean drags Katie with him.

Sean: Hey, Zeke, over here!

Zeke: Hey, let me see!

The three children look down at the street beneath them. They see Michael coming out the door of his apartment building. He looks at the sky and sees a shooting star.

We see a pair of black gloved hands cracking a peanut. In a split second, the quiet of the night is shattered by machine guns. Bullets are flying everywhere, breaking windows and damaging buildings. Zeke and Sean start to run. Katie doesn't move.

Sean: Katie, come on!

Katie: Michael..

Katie huddles up with her teddybear close to her body. She starts to think about something that happened some time ago:

On a beautiful spring day Michael and the three children play with a soccerball on a meadow.

Katie: Michael!

Michael: Katie, come one!

Michael: It's about time you threw it!

Sean: Oh yeah?

Michael runs with the ball in his hands, Sean and Zeke are trying to get it. He throws it to Katie.

Michael: Katie!

Katie's dog, Skipper, takes the ball and runs into the woods with it clamped in his mouth.

Katie: Skipper come back here!

Michael: Katie! [To the boys] Let her go.. [To Katie] Come on! Hurry up!

They boys let Katie go, and she and Michael follow Skipper.

Katie: Michael, where did he go?

Michael: He went into the woods over here.

Katie: Skipper!

Michael: Skipper!

They pass a sign that reads: 'Keep out! NO TRESPASSING Grounds are patrolled'

Katie: Skipper!

Michael: Skipper!

They walk further into the woods and stumble across the entrance to a cave. They walk in and find the cave deserted and completely filled with cobwebs.

Michael: Oh my God, look at this.

They walk further in as Michael carefully removes some of the cobwebs around them. Suddenly he notices a big spider made out of metal on one of the walls.

Katie: [scared] I don't like spiders!

Michael: Wait a minute..

Michael places his hand over the spider. It begins to glow and a wall of the cave moves. He starts to walk in the secret doorway.

Katie: No, Michael!

Michael: Katie! Katie, it's ok!

Slowly and quietly they walk in and enter a room. They walk down a flight of stairs and stop. Spiders are crawling around everywhere. They look down at a huge laboratory and see a man wearing black gloves cracking peanuts. They carefully conceal their presence as they listen to the man - Mr Big - telling his troops of his plans.

Michael: [wispers to Katie] You gotta be real quiet!

Mr Big: Ok, let's see... [looks at a huge globe]

Michael: [wispers to Katie] You'll be quiet, ok?

Mr Big: Europe, Asia, Miami, New York. Cocaine and crack. San Francisco. Heroin and speed. You guys gotta get in the middle of the country, get in the middle of the country. Stop those kids from praying in school. First I want you to hang around by the playgrounds, I want you to hang out at schoolyards. You gotta remember a young customer always turns into a loyal customer. Remember that! Remember that!

Michael: He can't be doing this...

Mr Big: I want every kid in this whole world to take drugs because of me. Because of ME! I want everybody to know, everybody! And my name is gonna be in the history books. They'd better spell my name right. L-I-D-E-O. So simple. Frankie Lideo! Very easy. Bugs and drugs! Bugs and drugs! Smooth operation! That's how I like it. Smooth operation.

Michael: What?

A spider crawls up on Katie's hand and she starts to scream. Michael puts his hand over her mouth, but it's too late! The alarm system goes off, the dogs start to bark and Mr Big sees them.

Mr Big: [Points at Michael and Katie, and shouts] Theeeeere! Theeeere! Theeeere!

Back to present, outside Michael's apartment building in the dark night.

Mr Big's men shoot everything into pieces with their machine guns. There is no way Michael can come out of this alive. The shooting stops. Mr Big laughs and walks towards the steps Michael was standing on before the shooting started. Because of all the smoke, Mr Big is unable to see Michael and is sure he'll find him sprawled on the ground..

Mr Big: Well that was good..haha..That was just great! hehe..Ok, let's sweep him up now. Come on!

Mr Big looks at the steps, but as if by magic Michael's disappeared! Only his coat lies on one of the steps.

Mr Big: [Screams] Where is he?

We hear running footsteps and see Michael's shadow as he runs away.

Katie: Michael!

Mr Big: There! Come on! Get him! Kill him! Kill him! Move! Let's see how cool he is now.

Michael runs as fast as he can through the streets. Mr Big shouts orders to his men and they begin to chase Michael.

Mr Big: Get him! Let's go! Move it, move it. Split up. Split up all over north west. Cover everything. Come one! Come on! Come on! Hurry up! Hurry up! Find that little brat!

Michael hides under a manhole cover in one of the streets and Mr Big's men run right over him without noticing him being there. He gets up when they are gone and starts to run again. Katie follows Michael's moves from the rooftop and she tries to get his attention.

Katie: Michael! Michael!

He hears her, but the men are coming right behind him so he has to keep moving. A wild chase goes on. Mr Big shouts orders, Michael runs and hides, the men keep following and shooting at him, but they don't hit him. Katie has gone down from the roof and she, too, tries to follow Michael.

Mr Big: Cover everything! Cover everything! I want reports! I'm not hearing anything. Get back to me. Cover the back, he's moving around. You'll trap him that way. Come on! Move it, move it! I'm not hearing any reports back here!

Man: Let's not let him get away!

Mr Big: Split up! Take your men all over. Cross the street. Trap him! Shoot anything that moves!

Michael jumps a wooden fence and the men shoot right through it with their machine guns.

Mr Big: What's that? Did you get him?

Nope, Michael is still alive and he runs for his life, still followed by Mr Big's men. He runs into a backalley and hides. Mr Big keeps shouting orders. Michael hides in some bushes and the men run past him. Everything becomes quiet. Looks like they're gone, but suddenly the dogs see him and start to bark. Michael gets out of the bushes and runs with the dogs in his heels. He disappears and several cars and more men show op in one of the streets.

Mr Big: He's gotta be somewhere around here.

Man: Move! Move it!

Mr Big: [Shouts in a megaphone] Cover that side! All right, all right! Bring in the artillery! I want everybody here in this place. I want this one messy. Turn him into a stain on the concrete. And look for that little cockroach too. She's gotta be here somewhere.

Michael is hiding behind a wall only a few feet away from the mad men. He looks around the corner of the wall and Mr Big sees him.

Mr Big: Gimme that!

Mr Big takes a flashlight from one of his men and points it at Michael. Mike starts to run and Mr Big's men are about to start shooting again.

Mr Big: There he is. Hold it! Hey, hold it! He's not going anywhere. [Points at a sign that says 'Dead End'] There's no way outta there. Don't screw it up!

Michael knows he's trapped. He looks at the sky and sees another shooting star.

Mr Big: Come on! Let's go!

Mr Big sees Michael's shadow... and it looks like he's turning into a car! The car shows up in front of them and slowly turns towards Mr Big and his Men

Mr Big: All right. Come on, come on. What are we waiting for? It's only a car. What are you waiting for?? FIRE!

They start to shoot at the car, but the bullets just bounce off. It suddenly starts to drive towards them in an incredible speed, leaving a trail of fire behind it. The car sails into the air and over their heads. Michael has managed to escape!

Mr Big: What was that? Who was that? WHAT IS IT? Get him! Go! Get him! Move! Get him! Get him! Come on! Get him!

Katie arrives in front of a door - 'Club 30's' - and walks in. It's dark and dusty in there, and it doesn't look like anyone's been there for a very long time. As she walks around she suddenly hears something.

Katie: Michael?

Sean: Katie? Are you OK?

Katie: Michael got away.

Zeke: No way!

Sean: He told us to meet him here right?

Katie: Yeah.

Sean: In this place?

Sean: Nobody's been here for years. It's kind of spooky.

Sean sees a billiard-table and picks up one of the cues. The ball starts to move all by itself without him touching it.

Sean: Huh?

Katie: What's wrong?

Sean: Nothing.

After a bit more exploring in the club, the kids decided to go out again.

Zeke: I think maybe we came to the wrong place.

Sean: It says Club 30's.

Zeke: Hey, you guys, something's coming.

They run and hide behind a fence. Katie climbs up on the boys' shoulders to see who's coming. She sees a shadow of a car which turns into Michael. She gasps and the boys let here down. She looks like she's just seen a ghost.

Zeke & Sean: So what did you see? Come on! This isn't good.. Hello?! Is anybody there? Hello? Man, are you ok? Come on, tell us what you saw!

Katie: Michael!

Zeke & Sean: So??

All three of them look over the fence. They see Michael walking over to the club, and when he opens the door bright blinding light flashes out. He walks in and closes the door behind him. The club has been transformed into a hot night spot right out of the 1930s. Everyone in there stop talking when Michael walks in and they all stare at him. Michael sees a jukebox across the room, flips a coin through the air and magically it flies right into the jukebox.

'Smooth Criminal' starts to play and the music fills the room. Michael starts to dance and the others join him. As he dances he fights some of the men, and of course, he beats them all. Towards the end of the song Michael sees Katie, who's watching through a window, and winks at her.

The boys are also outside, watching Michael from some windows.

Sean: Oooh that's cool, huh?

Zeke: I taught him everything he knows!

Sean: Oh yeah right. You show me!

Zeke: Ok sure, hold this.

Zeke gives Sean his backpack, jumps down to the ground and starts to dance like Michael.

As Michael and the other people are about to finish the dance, we see Mr Big's armed men march around the building and line up in front of the windows, with their guns pointed toward Michael inside the club.

Katie, who is still watching Michael through one of the windows, is suddenly pulled away and Mr Big's gloved hand cover her mouth before she has time to scream.

Michael notices the armed men outside the windows. He moonwalks a few feet, bends down and when he gets up again he has a machine gun in his hands. He starts to shoot at the men outside.

Everybody inside start to scream and try to get out of the club. A man and a woman try to help Michael get out.

Man: Come on! Give me that!

The man takes the gun out of Michael's hands and points it at the men outside. The woman pushes Michael out the door so he can escape. Outside at the back Michael meets Zeke and Sean.

Michael: Zeke?

Sean: They got Katie, man. They grabbed her and took her away.

Michael: Why didn't you come and get me? I was right in there.

The boys try to explain what happened, both at the same time.

Michael: Which way did they go?

Sean: [Points] They went over here, man...

Zeke: Oh, look, look, look, look!

Zeke notices Katie's teddybear lying on the ground. They run over to it and find it covered with Mr Big's huge spiders. Zeke is about to pick it up:

Michael: Don't touch it!

Sean: Wow, oh no.

Zeke: Michael, you gotta help her!

Sean: What can he do?

Michael: I can see what I can do. He'll see...

Michael, Sean and Zeke go back to Mr Big's laboratory and lurk around the entrance.

Michael: Stay back! Stay back.

Sean: Is there anybody up there? Watch your step.

Zeke steps on something. It cracks. Sean picks it up.

Sean: Peanuts?

Michael is a bit ahead of the others and he turns around to see why the boys stopped. A great door falls down right in front of him and he gets separated from the boys - he's trapped inside Mr Big's headquarter.

Sean & Zeke: Michael! Michael!

Sean and Zeke run away. Michael moves away from the closed gate. Two dogs notice him and start to bark. Several huge spotlights switch on and shine right at him. After a few seconds the whole courtyard is filled with light, barking dogs and armed men pointing their guns at Michael. Nowhere to escape.

Outside Sean and Zeke are watching him from a hiding place. Zeke clutches his hands.

Sean: What are you doing?

Zeke: Trying to get a lucky star, for Michael.

Sean: Why don't we go get the cops instead?

As they are about to get up, one of Mr Big's men suddenly steps over them. He points his weapon at them and forces them stay.

Michael suddenly hears somebody scream.

Kate: [Cries] No. No. No.

Michael: Katie... [Shakes his head]

A door opens and Mr Big appears, holding Katie by her hair. She cries, screams and tries to escape his tight grip.

Mr Big: Stop! Shut it!

Katie: Michael, help!

Mr Big: Shut up!

Michael tries to run to her rescue, but Mr Big's men grab him and hold him back. Mr Big starts slapping Katie's face to make her shut up. She starts to cry and scream even more.

Katie: Michael!

Mr Big: Get over here! [Drags Katie with him]

Michael: Let her go!

Mr Big: Shut up! Don't you talk to me. You shut up. [Points at Michael]

Mr Big hits Katie yet another time and she screams again. Michael tries to get away from the men to help Katie, but they hold him back.

Michael: Why are you doing this? Stop it!

Mr Big: You wanna know why I'm doing this to you? I just wanna get everybody high, man. You know, some good drugs. That's all.

Mr Big takes the cap off a shot and is about to inject it into Katie.

Katie: No!

Michael: Do it and you're dead.

Mr Big: Let's give her a shot of this.

Katie: No, no!

Mr Big tries to put the needle into Katie's arm. As he is about to do it Michael screams 'Nooooooo!' Katie grabs the shot and manages to get out of Mr Big's grip. One of the men holding Michael hits him with the gun several times and he falls back and to the ground. Katie runs over to Michael and holds her arms around him.

Katie: Michael! Michael!

Mr Big: Get up! [pulls Katie away from Michael and kicks him in the face] This isn't so smooth now is it huh?

Katie gets up and Big throws her to the ground again. She starts to crawl away and Mr Big puts his foot on her back.

Mr Big: Where are you going brat? Little cockroach. [To his men] Kill her first!

Katie: Michael!

Mr Big: Shut up!

Mr Big doesn't notice the shooting star above his head...

Michael: LEAVE HER ALONE!!!

Michael screams so loud the glass in the spotlights break. His voice echoes over the entire mountain. Dark clouds cover the sky. Everybody look around with a scared look on their face. The dogs wimp and run away to hide. Everything becomes quiet. Michael sits up on his knees and cover his face with his hands. When he looks up and opens his eyes light comes out of them. His whole face turns into metal. Michael is slowly turing into a robot!

Michael: AAaaaaaaaooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

Mr Big and his men look up. Katie crawls away without anybody noticing. Michael stands up and he has now turned into a huge robot.

Katie: Michael?

Sean: Amazing.

Mr Big looks around, a bit unsure as to what to do. Finally he shouts:

Mr Big: FIRE!

His men don't move.

Mr Big: FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

The men start to shoot, but it doesn't affect the robot. He starts to fire back at the men and kills some of them.

Mr Big: Bring out everything!

They shoot at the robot and he screams as if he's in pain. He starts to shoot back and kills all the men around him except a few who manage to run away. Mr Big escapes through the door and the robot turns into a spaceship.

Katie finds the boys and they all watch Michael/ the spaceship and smile.

But Mr Big hasn't given up quite yet. He brings out a huge laser from the mountain and aims at Michael.

Katie: Oh no!

Mr Big: [talking to himself] Where are you? You tinhead! Where are you? Stay there, I have something for you. Got you! Mr Big pushes a button, a laserbeam hits Michael and the spaceship crashes.

Katie: Michael!

Sean: Oh no!

Mr Big: [laughs] I got you! I got you tinhead! I got you! Ok, where's that coacroach brat? [Aims at Katie] Ok, kid, got you!

As he is about to press the button, Michael flies up from the ravine and aims a laserbeam at him. Mr Big's whole headquarter explodes. Michael turns the ship and flies over the children who reach up for him, but he flies away. The kids are left with tears in their eyes.

Zeke: Where's he going?

Kate: He's leaving.

Zeke: Goodbye, Michael.

Sean: Goodbye.

Katie: Thank you Michael. Bye.

Sean: It's alright, Katie.

Michael disappears into the sky. A shooting star hits the ship as it leaves and turns into something that looks like beautiful fireworks.

Later on the children sit in the city and talk.

Sean: It's pretty dull without him, huh? He saved our lives.

Zeke: Gonna miss him.

Sean: Me too.

Zeke: I've made this star to remember Michael by. His lucky star.

Sean: Yeah.

Katie: It's not his lucky star! [cries] He's gone.

Katie grabs the star out of Zeke's hands and runs away with it. She sits down a bit further away.

Katie: Not a lucky star. It's not. I wish he would come back.

The wind sweeps a few leaves away, then the star in Katie's hands flies up in the air with the wind. Sean and Zeke hear footsteps behind them and turn around. They see Michael walking towards them and they get up and run to him.

Sean & Zeke: Michael! Michael!

Katie: Michael?

Sean: Michael, you came back! You came back!

Katie: Michael!! [runs towards him]

Sean: We missed you a lot.

Katie: Michael!

Michael: Katie...

Katie: [jumps into Michael's arms] You're back! You came back! Oh, Michael.

Michael: I'm so happy to see you. You know I had to come back, Sean. Come on let's go! This is so exiting.

Michael takes them back to 'Club 30's'

Katie: You're going back to the club?

Zeke: What's gonna be in there this time?

Michael: You'll se, Zeke. You'll like this. Everybody get ready. Ready?

Katie, Sean, Zeke: Yeah!

The door opens and once again blinding light comes out.

Michael: Yooohohohooo!

Michael laughs as they walk in and the door closes behind them. They start to walk along a long corridor.

Zeke: Where are we going?

Michael: Stay together, you'll se.

Sean: What's all this stuff?

Michael: Don't worry. I'm gonna show you something special. Keep going, keep going.

Zeke: What's that? I think I heard something.

Michael: [laughs] You didn't hear anything.

Zeke: You know something you're not telling us.

Michael: It's a surprise!

Katie: Are there spiders?

Michael: There are no spiders in here.

Sean: I wanna se some rats!

Michael: There are no rats in here. [laughs]

Zeke: What's down there?

Michael: Nothing. We're going ahead.

Suddenly a plug right in front of them crackles. They all jump.

Michael: It's just a plug, it's just a plug. [laughs]

Zeke: Yeah, you jumped back there, too!

Michael: We'll go around this way.

Michael's manager Frank Dileo meets them.

Frank: Mike, where have you been? We've one minute. Let's go, let's go! [Michael walks away] Hi kids, I think I've found a friend of yours.

They hear someone barking and Skipper comes running towards them.

Katie, Sean, Zeke: Skipper! Skipper! Hey, Skipper.

Frank: Come on with me.

Sean: Come on Skip! Come on!

Michael's people help him put on a jacket and make up.

Mike's staff: Where have you been man? Mike, this way!

Michael walks out on a stage and the band start to play 'Come Together'. Frank takes the kids to the side of the stage so they can watch the show. Michael performs the song infront of a screaming audience.
