This is us:
Jan Arild is 29 years old and lives in a suburb of Oslo called Ammerud. He has a degree in theoretical physics and is currently working as a senior scientist at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment.
May Tina is 26 years old and is Jan Arild's sister. She has studied English, history, etnology and education at the University of Oslo . After completing her studies she has worked as a teacher in Rostock, Germany and at an orphanage in Nhlangano, Swaziland. She currently works at Groruddalen Skole in Oslo.
In our travel website we provide a complete travel diary from our journeys around the world, as well as some practical advice based on our experiences from travelling.
We had several reasons for creating this website. First, both of us have always made travel diaries from our respective holidays. Reading our old travel diaries is a great way of reliving the memories of that particular holiday. Without a written diary, it is often difficult to keep the days apart, and you tend to remember only the highlights, forgetting many small details which made the holiday special.
On planning our various trips we have always relied to a large extent on the Internet. We always search the net for information about the places we are going to visit, read the travel diaries of other people who have been there, and post questions to Usenet newsgroups. This has been a big help to us and we would like to be of help to others in the same way. However, keep in mind that these diaries were written mainly for ourselves. This is why they contain many details that might be of little interest to others (like when we get up in the morning, have diarrhoea, have lunch etc.).
Still, we hope you find some useful information here, or at least enjoy reading about our journeys.
