The big dream has been to see and experience the orient. We where so exited, at least the dream would come trough. We left Norway 02.01.97, and after a flight close to 12 1/2 hours, we finally landed. A good friend of us, Svein Helgesen, met us at the airport, and we travelled together for the next 3 weeks. First stop was Bangkok, and we visited a lot of temples, like the one that kept remaining from Buddha in a big black urn, The Great Palace and the Kings personal Temple, just beside the Great Palace. Above: Buddha's urn, The Kings Temple, and in the back the Great Palace. After Bangkok we went to Phuket, and our bungalow at Patong Beach. The day after arrival we visited the main temple of Phuket. This is a very impressive temple, with details that can take your breath away. The Temple and one of the gold ceilings, and some smaller buildings, what we was told they held funerals in, (burning from bonfire so the spirit can follow the smoke). Later on we hired a boat and visited James Bond Islands, which you can view under. It was a wonderful day at sea. The most spectacular trip was the one we took to Phi Phi Islands. It was so fantastic, it can’t be described with words. The west coast of Thailand is so beautiful, with the cleanest water, beaches as far as you can see, and with coconut threes just a few yards from the water. On our way out there we entered a pirate cave, and you can see the beaches with Grete/Kurt to the right. Under you can study the temple of Patong
Beach. We was surprised to see how
rich it was. We also saw the first lying
Buddha here.
