Trip to Tunisia - 1998

Mads and I decided it would be cool to ride to the Sahara desert and spin in the sand. It WAS cool, but it was also HOT! The pictures from this trip were taken between July 12th and August 2nd 1998.

Route Description:

  • From From Oslo to Kiel by ferry.
  • From From Kiel to Wurzburg.
  • From Wurzburg to Garching near Munich.
  • Daytrip into Munich. Visited a closed BMW museum, but was able to say hello to Helge Pedersen's "Olga" through the windows.
  • From Garching to Heiligenblut in Austria.
  • From Heiligenblut to Venice, Italy.
  • From Venice to Rome.
  • From Rome to Napoli.
  • From Napoli to Tunis in Tunisia, Africa. The goal was reached!
  • From Tunis to Kairouan.
  • From Kairouan to Tozeur.
  • Daytrip from Tozeur to the Algerian border.
  • From Tozeur, through Chott El Jerid, to Douz - the gateway to Sahara.
  • Daytrip around the oasis', and of course into the Saharan sand at Zafraan.
  • From Douz to Sousse.
  • From Sousse to Tunis.
  • From Tunis to Marseilles by ferry (delayed 32 hours).
  • North again through France, Switzerland and Germany. Ferry to Oslo from Kiel.
  • Total trip approx. 5500 km.
