Trip to Svalbard - 1999

My second Svalbard trip. The pictures from this trip were taken between April 18th and April 25th 1999. Once you go there, you'll want to return time after time. What a beautiful place!

• From Longyearbyen to Semmeldalen. My sled broke down.
• From Semmeldalen, back to Longyearbyen to fix the sled. Out again, into Grøndalen and to Barentsburg. Then crossed Grønfjorden and spent the night at Kapp Linne.
• From Kapp Linne, south along Nordenskiøldkysten to Kapp Martin. Spent the night there.
• Back up Nordenskiøldkysten and back to Barentsburg. Spent the night in Grønfjorddalen.
• Back to Longyearbyen to refuel and resupply. Drove out Adventdalen and Eskerdalen into Sassendalen. Mads' sled broke down. Left it there after marking the place with th GPS. Into Fulmardalen, over Elfenbeinbreen and into Agardhdalen. Spent the night at Agardhpynten after having spotted our first polar bear.
• Back again over Elfenbeinbreen and into Sassendalen. Retrieved and fixed the sled. Drove back out Sassendalen and visited Fredheim.
• Visited von Postbreen before returning to Longyearbyen.
• Total trip: 641 km
