All prices are for one night in a double room with private bathroom and toilet.
Conveniently located in the Banglamphoo area and within walking distance of many attractions. Big rooms with bathrooms and air condition, and we had a refrigerator and TV in our room as well. Restaurant on the ground floor with very good and cheap food. Breakfast for only one person included in the room price. The hotel has a few computers for Internet access. The staff knows very little English so they are not much help if you have any questions. A big minus was the huge cochroaches in our bathroom. Spent four nights here. Wouldn`t want to stay here again unless they exterminate all the insects.
Tong Poon Hotel
Location: Near Siam Square
Price: 600 Bath
Situated close to the train station and Chinatown. Nice big rooms with bathroom, TV and refrigerator. No Internet access. Very good breakfast included in the room price (slow service, though). We only spent one night here, but wouldn`t hesitate in staying there again.
Muangphol Mansion
Location: Near Siam Square
Price: 650 Bath
Situated close to sky train in Siam Square. Medium sized rooms. Very noisy air-condition. Pillows could easily be mistaken for sacks of cement. There was a big window without glass in the wall between the bedroom and the bathroom which made the toilet visits less private. Small restaurant on the ground floor with good food. They have Internet terminals but it was very expensive compared to prices in Banglamphoo. Average breakfast included in the room price. Stayed here two nights. Would not be our first choice hotel during another visit to Bangkok.
Winner Inn Hotel
Location: Ten minute walk south of the city center
Price: 600 Bath
Situated in a quiet area within walking distance from the city centre. Breakfast included in the price. We tried two different rooms here and they were both nice and clean. Our rooms had TV and a refrigerator with drinks and snacks. Small breakfast included in the price. The hotel had a cheap and efficient laundry service. The staff was usually very helpful and some of them spoke English well. However, they seemed almost insanely concerned about the contents of the refrigerator and had to check that we hadn't taken anything without paying before we could check out. We stayed here five nights and wouldn't mind staying here again.
Panorama Beach Club
Location: North end of Patong beach
Price: 650 Bath
Situated in a quiet end of Patong beach. Nice room with refrigerator and air condition. Nice swimmingpool belongs to the hotel. Breakfast is not included in the room price, and their restaurant is quite expencive. The staff is helpful enough but not very friendly. It is a fifteen minute walk along the beach to get to the centre of the town.
Cathay Hotel
Location: 22 Lebuh Leith, Chinatown
Price: 69 RM
Situated in Chinatown, the hotel is really wonderful. It is like going back to the colonial age when entering the building. We tried three different rooms here and they were all very nice and clean. The rooms may seem a little run down at first, but we thought it just added to the charm. Our rooms were all very big and spacious. All the rooms had different equipment, e.g. in one we had refrigerator and tv, and in another room we didn`t have any of that instead we had a fan in addition to the air con. The staff was helpful and most of them spoke English quite well. There is a restaurant on the ground floor, but it doesn`t have the style the rest of the hotel and only sell breakfast (not included). However, the breakfast we bought here was one of the best we had on the whole trip and the guy that works there makes the best fresh fruit juice in the whole world! It is a 10-15 minute walk to the Komtar complex and bus station. I would love to come back and stay at this hotel again!
Flora Bay Chalets
Location: Flora Bay, on the beach
Price: 150 RM for a beach chalet with air-condition
Price: 45 RM for a small fan room
The place is beautiful and to us Flora Bay Chalet looked like the nicest place to stay on this beach. The small room with fan was terrible, but the chalet on the beach was lovely. A lot of people say you don`t need air-con, but our room was hell without. Maybe the other chalets are better than the one we first tried. They offer different rooms/chalets to different prices so there is something for everyone. Lonely Planet says that their accommodation is slightly run-down, but this is nonsense. The staff is very helpful and smile a lot. The place has an outdoor restaurant with cheap and delicious food (we probably ate our best meals on the trip at this restaurant). Breakfast not included. It's a great place and I would love to stay here again!
Hotel Lok Ann
Location: 113A Jalan Petaling
Price: 70 RM
Situated in the heart of Chinatown right by the Jalan Petaling market. It is within walking distance of a lot of things worth seeing/doing. Our room had a weird shape and was pretty run down, but still it was clean and very big. From our windows we could see everything that happened at the market, which was pretty exciting! The old Chinese men that run the hotel were nice and acommodating, always thanking us heartly when we said we wanted to stay another night. There was no restaurant in the hotel but outside there where a lot of eatingplaces. A minus could be that the market made a lot of noice during the evening (loud music), but it didn`t bother us too much. We stayed here five nights and this is a hotel I would like to stay at again.
Hotel Gold Leaf
Location: 31 Jalan Kee Ann
Price: 45 RM
Situated not very far from either bus station or the centre of town. Our room was small but clean and had a TV and bathroom. Our toilet had a problem with flushing down properly. The people in the reception were exceptionally nice. The hotel was nice enough but nothing special that separates it from any other hotel.
Tai Hoe Hotel
Location: 163 Kitchener Road, Little India
Price: 60$
Nice and modern hotel in the centre of Little India. Our room was small but we had the nicest bathroom on the trip. There was also a refrigerator and a TV in the room. It is a short walk to buses, but a very long walk to other public transport. Not a lot to see or do in the area around the hotel. The staff is nice enough, at least some of them are very helpful and others are not. There is no restaurant in the hotel but across the street there is a cafe that serves a lousy breakfast which is included in the price. I could stay here again, but it is a little out of the way from everything.
Hotel Sheremetyevo-2
Location: Sheremetyevo 2 Airport
Price: 600 NOK
A very conveniently located hotel for short stopovers, but for longer stays it is too far from the city center (about 1 hour and 30 minutes with public transport). The rooms were adequate and breakfast is included in the price. There is nothing to do in the area.
