Thank you for dropping by. I don't know where you've come from or why you're here, but I hope you find something of interest to you. If you're looking for fancy java stuff, amazing graphical effects or cool music, you've come to the wrong place, though.
The emphasis of this site will be to tell a little bit about myself and my interests, as well as trying to provide some useful information about various stuff.
Okay, let the show begin. We start with some brief personal details:

Jan Arild Teland
December 4, 1971 Scientist Ammerud, Oslo, Norway Football, Science, Travel, Music, Books, Movies etc. |
I am a theoretical physicist from the University of Oslo. Click here for more information about my education and background.
I work as a senior scientist at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI). Click here for more details on my actual work, and how I ended up at the FFI.
Football is one of my major interests, especially English football. The teams that I support are Liverpool in England and Start in Norway.
As for music, my favourite group is Swing Out Sister. They're an English group that unfortunately aren't very well known at the moment. Most people won't even have heard about them. I also like Gloria Estefan / Miami Sound Machine, in particular the pre-90's material. Other favourites of mine are Incognito and Wes (African music, but who is he? There's not much information of any relevance about him on the web.)
So, that's the basic stuff about me. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time yet to make much more out of this page, but I will do so shortly. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to this major event, so check back soon :-)
At the moment, the most important part of this website is the section where I tell about my trip (together with my sister) to Southern Africa in the summer of 1999. You can read our extensive(!) diary of the events as they unfolded, and learn from our experiences if you're planning on visiting the area yourself (which you definitely should do!).
