Operation of alien radio amateurs in Norway

As the first country Norway implemented CEPT recommendation T/R 61-01 1 May 1986.

A foreign radio amateur who want to stay in Norway for a shorter period than one year, and who is citizen of a country which has adopted the recommendation T/R 61-01, is allowed to operate using LA/ plus his/her call sign.

A foreign radio amateur who want to stay in Norway for a shorter period than one year, and who is a citizen of a country which has not adopted recommendation T/R 61-01, may on application get permission to operate from Norway, provided a reciprocal agreement or another agreement normally exist between Norway and her/his native country.

A foreign radio amateur who resides in Norway and who will stay in the country for at least one year, may on application get permission to operate from Norwegian territory. The P&T issues a call sign consisting of LA0 (zero) or LC0 (zero) plus two or three letters.

Foreign radio amateurs need special permission from Norwegian authorities to operate from Norwegian land territories in the polar areas, like Svalbard with Bear Island and Jan Mayen in the north and Bouvet Island and Peter I Island in the south.
