A.R. Tist is legally born in Sweden, spent his student years in Los Angeles, California, and is currently
based in Stavanger, Norway. He may be one of this country's best kept secrets as a front runner of Art Couture
using oil/acrylics on canvas. He has managed to live half a life in absolute obliviance of his own talent but
has quickly succeeded in finding a pictorial language contrasting with that employed by other world artists.
Although his art form is highly abstract, the furiously red-colored paintings brilliantly explore
and depict the energy and force of a strangely amorphous landscape. At the same time his steel-blue, and lately also lime-green, art
work expresses an amazing tranquility from the very same settings.
As artistic schools and styles jostle each other in their efforts to prevail, A.R. Tist remains faithful to
his own standards. He prefers style to automatism, experimentation to tradition, Rothko to Matisse, and needless
to say, dark cigars and red wine. His paintings are truly something for the future and beyond.
