Prologue: Waiting
She sat there on a hot stone in the equally hot desert, just watching...and
waiting.
Now she had been watching them for a very long time...well, of course,
not a very long time by a godess' standard, but long enough in human time.
She'd always wanted to do something for them, something good. Wanted
to let them meet someone who could love them.
But it was hard. They were so different. Although she had already picked
the appropriate women in advance, she wasn't sure if it would work or not.
She couldn't force anyone to love somebody. She could just set it up,
and then wait and see what happened.
And she had to take Faust into account, too. That would really be a problem. He would do anything in his power to stop her. It was hard to be The Good Godess.
A little grin formed on her mouth. Luckily, she was the one who was allowed to start this time. That was definitely an advantage. That was why she had decided to do this now.
There had been so many people...so many people to help. So she hadn't had the chance. Faust had always won, and he had always been the one to start first. She hadn't been able to start first in a very long time.
But now it was her turn! How wonderful! Being able to do what she wanted for just a little while, without worrying about Faust. She had to hurry, she knew that. He would be back in no time.
When she got the signal in her brain, she straightened her godly costume and picked up her staff.
"Go, Oktava!" The signal said.
"Thank you," she smiled, "Indeed!"
She lifted her staff, and the jewels made the same cheerful chime as they always did. She begun to gradually fade away, while her head was filled to the brim with thoughts. She wondered if she could make it or not.
"Well, at least I'm gonna try. Look out, world, here I come..." she mumbled.
