reviews grifters

we all know them, don't we? yeah! it's inevitable: the grifters are a fine combination of
guided by voices and pavement. got any problems with that? not me!

in this section: eureka ep, queen of the table waters

eureka ep 10", shangri-la, 1995

finally bought this one, and still have regrets for not buying it earlier. what a beauty! to my taste, until now the best the grifters ever made. in the house style we get songs like his jesus song, the mysterious slow day for the cleaner and banjo. i believe this 10" was originally meant as something to keep the fans at ease, but it turned out to become an absolute masterpiece! a lot of modest beauty is being traded at times for a happy tune, like in felix cole. tip!

queen of the table waters 7", sub pop, 1994

a bit of an oldie, this 7", but a beauty it still is. do i hear a child singing at the start of the title track? i thought that the boys from noise addict were young, but this is even worse/better! anyway, this is not taking long and then the song kicks loose. the refrain is burned in your brain for the rest of the day; it seems to me that this is a fairly good indication that it is a killler song! if possible, the b-side is even better. inner beauty in return to cinder. hit!
