Today it's 5 years since I started the GAZ Web-Page, and it has been lots of fun to do. But it's also taken lot of time to frequently updating it. By today it's the longest running active Gary Moore Web-Page, even though you can find one that started before mine. The last 2 years the number of visitors have increased heavily, and I also reckon that Gary's heavy touring the last 2 years is also reason for the increased interest. Hope you have been pleased with this page and the info it has provided to you. I haven't used lot of time to changed the design over the years, but that it isn't the important with this page; it's to provide news and info about Gary Moore. A big thanks Lennart, Tomoyuki, Rene, Stefan, Katja, Heike and of course Arve for helping me with info and inspiration during the 5 years, and also BIG big thank you for those you I haven't mention and providing info during the years.

The Friday the 13th Ghost swept over UK yesterday. Unfortunately Gary Moore had to cancel his performance at the Liverpool Docks. Helen from UK sent me this official announcement from the venue: After waiting 45 minutes, the announcer came on stage to say, "due to circumstances beyond our control, Gary Moore is unable to perform tonight. A doctor has been on site and advised Gary not to sing as he is suffering from tonsillitis"

Gary Moore is also featuring the April issue of the German magzine Gitarre & Bass. So if any of you German speaking fans could tell the highlights from that interview at the GAZ Message Board, I guess many would be very happy for that.

Be sure to pick up the April issue of the Guitarist magazine. Features a track by track interview of the 'Back To The Blues' album and 'Stormy Monday' taken from the album is featuring on the enclosed CD.

It's surely is interesting interview with Gary, as usually the Guitarist magazine manages pull off. The Interview tell about different gear set-ups for the different tracks and when they were written. As well a review of the album, the album gets 4 of 5 rating........

The Prophet was first performed in Trade Show Product Demo back in 1993, where Gary also performed a protype of Naked Flame. This thing happened before the Jack Bruce Birthday gig, so I guess sometime between August and November 1993, anyone knows for sure???

SET-LIST
(as showed on VH1):
Enough Of The Blues
Walking By Myself
Cold Black Night
Parisienne Walkways

(Not Showed on VH1)
Stormy Monday
Picture Of The Moon
Still Got The Blues

Well, I just watched the VH1 broadcast of the 'Back To The Blues' live set recorded at the VH1 Studio. Wanted to give a review and continue of my views of his performance from The Mean Fiddler. The show started with some questions in the more standard type and only 4 songs was broadcasted the 19 March…..

‘Enough Of The Blues’ was the first song to start the performance as the Mean Fiddler show. It was another fine version with some great guitar parts. The song is really great and blows you right back out of the concert hall entrance. The only thing that sounded not too good was the screaming vocal parts, but only minor thing to comment.

Next song was ‘Walking By Myself’ is one of those song that still is sounding great after all these times Gary has played it since 1990. He sung it in a rougher voice than before. Gary seemed more pleased when performing at the VH1 than his playback performance at the Swedish TV4 the 3rd March.

‘Cold Black Night’, WOW, a superb version, it’s one of THE best versions I have heard. Smashing guitar work throughout the song, also great drum parts from Darrin. It was just to sit back and enjoy, more of this please………

‘Parisienne Walkways’ is a classic and it’s back to its normal smooth sound. Not like the ’99 version as I heard in Manchester and London, which was much rougher and heavier sound than this one. This was a really nice live in studio version, Gary is returning with same great performance as he did last year.

The total view of this program is that it was great, and it’s great promotion for Gary’s new album and forthcoming tour. This is the comments/view for this time…..

'Stormy Monday' is played in fine way, continued the positive trend from the Mean Fiddler gig. When Gary started on the solo part, it just floated away nice and smoothly. This is an outstanding live studio performance of Gary... just to enjoy....

This performance of 'Picture Of The Moon'  is way better than the Mean Fiddler gig, but it all comes down to a retrospective of Gary Moore's famous ballads... No matter how you see it. It gets very close to 'Nothing's The Same' touch of 'Wrong Side of Town' and 'With Love (Remember)' plus SGTB/PW with dry guitar sound. I always get this 'I have heard it before feeling' it's still enjoyable more than 8 minutes for Gary Moore...

'Still Got The Blues' and here we go again... It just to be so easy to listen to this song, but times changed... Well this version is a bit better than the live versions I have heard lately. Here in my heart, there's an empty space where 'Still Got The Blues' used to be. I hope the space will be filled again. I hope hear an inspired version soon.

I hope VH1 will broadcast the 3 remaining songs soon!

'If I Don't Get Home' is slow blues tunes, with very great blues guitar from Gary Moore. The guitar playing is more bluesy than 'Back To The Blues', more to the style from 'Blues For Greeny'

 The Back To Black Collection
In France Axe Killer released an 2CD issue with 'Corridors Of Power' & 'Run For Cover' with licensed from Virgin France. This album set is remastered compared to the other issues of the two albums you can buy at record stores. I am very happy with the remastering, It's very good sound on those 2 CD's. It's by far much better than the Thin Lizzy remasters!! 'Corridors Of Power' disc have following bonus tracks: 'Devil In Her Heart', 'Blinder (Instrumental)' & 'Empty Rooms (Long Version)' and 'Run For Cover' have following bonus tracks: 'Still In Love With You (1985 Version)' & Parisienne Walkways (Live 1984 with Phil Lynott)'. It's the first time you get 'Blinder' on the CD format. It's a recommended CD-set to buy, much because of the sound of the discs and the one bonus track! I normally are not happy for 2CD sets like this! But it made it to my heart! It's also nice booklet with picture as you see above and lyrics for all the songs included the bonus tracks. If ever Virgin consider to release remasters of Gary Moore albums, the have got a great standard they need to follow! I expect that Virgin is just waiting for Gary Moore to make an other successful album and then they will release remastered re-issue of the albums on Virgin & 10 Records

25th June 2000
Here's short review and set-list from one of mine favorite friends that attended the Chelsea concert yesterday:

quite small surroundings for a festival, but those of you who saw the Chelsea Bluesfestival before might know. When the auction should start at 2.00pm, there were about 20 people with a valid ticket, the rest seemed to be friends, family and stuff. Maybe that was the reason, the auction went on throughout the whole day - the first bid for the Gary Moore signed Gibson guitar stuck at 75,--!!!!! Finally it was sold for 575,--, which still seems to be cheap. The two signed t-shirts went out for 25,-.  Besides the fact it was pretty cold, I hardly can remember another GM concert that lasted only about 75 minutes, including the break for the encore (at least the North Sea Jazz Festival?). When they started (as usual 10 minutes too late) the crowed had grown meanwhile, but it was still cold, so Gary wore a black coat all the time. The delay caused some problems, because they had only time until 11.00pm and though the poor guitar tech gave his best and hurried up even that way he had to take off his sweatshirt, at the end Gary felt sorry, therefore they wanted to play another song but weren't allowed, as the time was over! But here is what they played - watch out, two new songs!!!!!
 1.  Since I Met You Baby
 2.  Walking By Myself
 3.  Need Your Love So Bad
 4.  I Loved Another Woman
 5.  I Ain't Got You*
 6.  Lookin' Back*
 7.  All Your Love
 8.  Still Got The Blues
 9.  Too Tired
10. Further On Up The Road
11. Fire
---------------------------------------
12. The Blues Is Alright
* = New Song

Both new songs are quite short (about 3 minutes each I guess) and the style of Enough Of The Blues and Cold Black Night. The refrain of Lookin' Back goes I WAS LOOKIN' BACK TO SEE IF SHE WAS LOOKIN' BACK TO SEE IF I WAS LOOKIN' BACK AT HER and when Gary suddenly stopped singing, the audience went in nearly immediately. The sound was ok until the encore, which sounded badly (the only one played with the new guitar). Finally to say that there were no guests, like the programme announced, but there would have been no space on the stage for another musician. No string got broken, as usual some lyrics went wrong, but it was a fine concert at all. I'd say that 80% just were there to see Gary and he seemed to be in good mood and shape, though no picks was given away.

22nd May 2000
Here's short review and set-list from one of mine friends that attended the Denmark concert yesterday:

A really fine concert, though everybody around me was totally drunken! It took nearly three songs until the crowd in front of the stage was completely in his hands. Maybe because it was a rock festival he played hard stuff sometimes. After the duel in Too Tired Gary went on with a great solo which he could have played at one of the 80th concerts as well. Fire was a very good version also. I really liked it. Fact is that he came back for the first encore, took the guitar The Guitar Tech gave him, played one note and gave it back to The Guitar Tech who didn't react immediately so Gary threw it on the ground and said "I have enough"! The crowd cheered and he asked if somebody wants it. Then he picked it up again and wanted to throw it into the crowd (thank God not to my direction) but he just hit the security zone. A small boy picked it up but The Guitar Tech wanted it back. Very astonishing that Gary played this encore The Blues Is Alright (with another guitar but in a fine way - one string got broken here)  and even a second encore. It seemed that not only I was wondering if he'll come back because after encore 1 nearly the whole crew went to the curtain to see if he would return. During PW a girl threw several pieces of underwear on the stage. You could hear that Gary said "thank you" for that afterwards but he regret that the bras weren't his size! The long note in PW went for 38 seconds and the whole song for nearly 12 minutes. The concert ended after 96 minutes.

Set-list:

Need Your Love So Bad
Since I Met You Baby
All Your Love
Still Got The Blues

25th April 2000
A Short review from the Copenhagen gig Sunday 23. April:

I have just arrived from Copenhagen today, but can tell you it was great show yesterday.
Need Your Love So Bad, Gary started the song with guitar intro, before you heard the known start of the song.
The highlight of the show was I Loved Another Woman, it was just great and very enjoyable......
Cold Black Night sounded also very good, and the crowd responded to song as well. That must be a positive sign for Gary with this new song, and it's great rock song. Still Got The Blues gets worse and worse......... Gary is really playing the song simple as possible, not as the great versions he did in '92/93. The Sky Is Crying was again great.........
Fire was good, but a bit short... The Blues Is Alright was average, the audience didn't respond too good for the song.
The last song was The Prophet, a great new instrumental with heavy influences from Sunset and Nothing's The Same,
he played it bit short compared to the versions he made in Germany, according to my German friends that was also attending the show. Great night, lots of Guitars...... There will surely longer review in the next issue of GAZ, as I probably don' manage to send out before I will travel to Stavanger etc..........

The Show yesterday wasn't sold out, about an 800 people being there. But the promotion for the Copenhagen show has been very lousy, according to Danish and Swedish fans I talked to before/after the show yesterday. With some more promotion, especially using the regular paper to annouce concerts, the show would surely been sold out.

The new session that Gary Moore revealed in the December '99 issue of Record Collector No. 244, an album by Jonathan Kelly called 'WAIT TILL THEY CHANGE THE BACKDROP' released in 1973 by RCA with Cat.nr. SF 8353 in Gatefold sleeve.

There are following tracks on the album: Wait ‘Till They Change The Backdrop*/Turn Your Eye On Me/Godas*/Down On Me/I Wish I Could*/Chains*/All In A New Light/Hold On/Beautiful Eyes* (Tracks marked with '*' are without Gary Moore).

The fun thing with record was to see the musician featuring on the following four Gary Moore tracks: Turn Your Eye On Me/Down On Me/All In A New Light/Hold On, none of them had an Electric Guitar listed in the cover, but when you hear the songs play, there was surely Eletric Guitar on those songs. The sound/Bending/Picking was unmistakeably Gary Moore's.

Well the songs aren't the best, but I have heard worse, the one interesting part is that on the track Hold On' Gary plays Steel Guitar, which we seldom have heard Gary play. The sound of the record reminds me a bit of the Rod Argent album 'Moving Home' on MCA from 1978, and it's surely an album for Gary Moore collectors....so don't dare to miss it!!!

Gary is answering many questions about earlier sessions.... as well as taking initative to mention them himself. Very interesting for any Gary Moore fan. So be sure to pick it up..........

For those that have some questions about the interview about the records, take a look into the Discography pages under the related section. If you then don't find the answer, don't hesitate to contact me.

Errors in the Record Collector Interview:
Gary Ball, correct is Gary Boyle. The album is called 'Electric Glide' which features Gary on 2 tracks: 'GAZ' & HAYABUSA'

Chris Thompson, Gary did infact play on a couple of tracks with Chris Thompson back in 1983. He play on 'Do What You Wanna Do' and a Paul McCartney Cover which we don't know the name of. It was released an an album called 'Out Of The Night' April '83 in Germany only. Also as an 7" with the A-Side was the Gary Moore track 'Do What What You Wanna Do'.
