I am a new internet user and a great fan of Gary Moore.
I have found these pages very interesting and there is a lot of information as well. Before I got my internet I had to phone to London to find out the concerts.  I was in Pori, where I am from and in Trondheim and in Stockholm.  I really look forward to next ones.
With love

I  would love to join your mailing list if possible.I have always admired Gary not only for his excellent singing/songwriting abilities but for the fact that he doesn't always play it safe.It is obvious that the man is still 'hungry' in his quest for personal expression through music which can only benifit his many supporters. My only complaint is that there are not enough hidden tracks on the "Dark days.." album.

I noticed a lot of US readers were having trouble purchasing the DDIP cd as well as other older Moore cds.  Most of these can be purchased for near immediate or immediate delivery by Jart Music at <jartmusic.com>.  They aren't cheap but they have a great selection of imports and hard to find cds.  They specialize in hard rock and heavy metal.  Check them out.

Subject: GM - Gary Husband video

I've heard that Gary Husband (Gary Moore's current drummer) is recording a drumming instruction video. He is an awesome drummer, although his work on the new G. M. album is pretty low-key. His playing with Level 42 was much better. Included on the video is supposed to be Mark King + Mike Lindup from Level 42, Allan Holdsworth, and Gary Moore.

For Sale - 'Run For Cover' - (book), the songs with tabulature and lyrics, from Gary Moore's album.

Subject: I want Moore Gary Moore

Hello Everyone:

I feel right at home here, among fellow fans.  I have been listening to the tunes of this masterful musician since "Dirty Fingers" hit the airwaves. This man has influenced how I listen to music since I was 17 years old - I'm now 34.  I am an avid listener in the U.S. residing in the State of New York, near its capital, Albany.

The BURNING questions I have are:

1.)  When is DDIP going to get here???  DAMN!!  I hate waiting.  Sort of like a kid in a candy store, I am.   I just recently ordered his "Live Blues from CDnow" and I HATE waiting for that too!!

2.)  Is Gary Moore EVER going to play in Upstate New York.  A LOT of people around here would JUMP at the chance to hear him play - we are very rarely exposed to such talent, of late.  In the City where I live - Schenectady, NY we have a remodeled entertainment theatre called PROCTORS THEATRE (very historic, over 100 years old).  This type of facility could easily house Mr. Moore and his group.  What are the chances of something like that happening?? In Albany, NY there is the PEPSI ARENA.  That facility can literally hold thousands of people with ease.  During the Summer season around here in upstate NY The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC, as it's known to friends), has held in the past... GET THIS..... 35,000 fans.  This happened twice in local history.  Once for the GREATFUL DEAD (about 5 years ago) and again in 1997 for the DAVE MATTHEWS BAND.  We've got the stuff around here to hold up to the best of them.  Let's see this man play in New York State.  If we can get STEVE WINWOOD, TEARS FOR FEARS (awesome show), CHICAGO, AEROSMITH ......etc., etc., etc., Why can't we get MOORE?.  I would much prefer to see GARY MOORE than any of the above.  I actually have more respect for him than I do for Eric Clapton....Clapton has gone a little too soft of late (talent aside).

What it all comes down to is this......WE ARE DEPRIVED OF GARY'S TALENT AROUND HERE!!

Hope someone can help with this dilemma.

3.)  OK, here's the BIGGIE.  Who knows this masterful performer well enough to present all these thoughts and questions to him so I can get some answers.  Sorry, I don't mean to be rude.... It's just that one can only hope that the messages and concerns written get passed to him in some way.  Why can't we get a DIRECT E-MAIL ADDRESS to his management that will give him a chance to see what his fans are thinking??  Wouldn't that benefit everyone??  Am I asking too many questions??  Hope not.  Thanks.

4.) *****Bonus Questions*****  ARE YOU GOING TO PUBLISH THESE IN THE NEXT GAZ??  I hope so.  Does Gary ever read GAZ?  I hope so.

ANYWAY - Thanks for listening..

Comment From Ole-Johan:
There are still no news about DDIP to be released in US.
If Gary will do shows in the US, will we have leave up to the future.
There is no plans to make an Gary Moore Official Web-page that I am aware of. Each issue of GAZ is sent to the management. When I met Gary in Molde after concert there, I gave him all the 14 released GAZ issues released by that time! As you see your questions are print in the 'next' GAZ issue.

Subject: Gary Moore

Well where do I begin?
I think it started in 1979 or right around there with a friend of mine who had a Thin Lizzy bootleg, which would later be known as the Sydney Australia show that was just released on video this past spring. I was already listening to Lizzy for a few years at this point, but could not really keep up with the personnel changes in the band. It is fair to say that I knew Gray Moore was playing on and off again with Lizzy during this period. Anyway, The tape was cued to "Are You Ready". I will never forget the feeling that came over me when Gary's screaching solo came through the speakers. He just destroyed Scott Gorham during that song. Being a guitarist myself, I was awed by what I heard.

As the years passed I always found myself going back to either Thin Lizzy or Gary Moore. I did not really care for G-FORCE or Dirty Fingers, but thought that Corridors Of Power was a really good, well thought out record. In hind site I think that Gary's playing was a bit over done, but it was the early '80's and very vogue.I won't go through every release but would like to say that you can hear his sound always evolving. By the time after After The War came out I wondered where Gary would go next. His last 2 albums before his blues phase were nearly identical.

The blues phase was just an incredible rebirth for him and his fans. I don't think that too many of todays "guitar heroes" could have changed directions like he did.

I always felt and still do that the lack of air-play for Gary here in the states, led to Eddie Van Halen being crowned the greatest guitar player of all of the 80's and early 90's. This is not a shot at EVH. Lets be realistic, some of the most memorable rock songs over the last 20 years came from Eddie. But, pound for pound, I feel that Gary is the better player, writer and performer. No gimmicks, no frills just straight ahead and with passion.

I can't say enough about Gary's influence on my playing, whether with Lizzy or solo. I have not yet heard his new release and don't know if I will, but even if I don't I have just about everything else he's recorded and with that I will never have a need for anything that is passing for rock music of
today.

Thanks
Ed Miley, Watertown, MA, USA

P.S. In the last Gaz issue, some one wrote that Gary did "All Your Lovin" by Otis Redding. This song was recorded by Otis Rush in the early to mid sixties, and was also covered by Aerosmith. Aerosmiths version is a lot drier and slower and can be found in the Pandoras Box set which was released in the early 90's.

I've just got  the Spirit of Emeralds boot so I'll provide you with the info

Bondage Music Bon 103 (I think that Bondage Music is a Japanese boot company)

Recorded Live at Nakano Sun Plaza, Tokyo, Japan May 12 1989

The cover is made with photos from  the After TheWar inner sleeve (a little recoloured to brown), the ones with gary wearing coat

Very good audience recording, in fact it it weren't for the people you hear shouting at some parts of the concert I would say it is a soundboard recording

The total runing time is (Ithink) over 76 Mins.

Track listing:
Dunluce
after the war
shapes of things
wild frontier
this thing called love
military man
so far away
empty rooms
blood on emeralds
out in the fields
rocking every night
johnny boy
parisienne walkaways

What can I say about the only boot from the  after the war tour  I've known of, and that also has great sound and a great performance???

The only bad thing for me is that it is not a double one including as well the messiah will come again, speak for yourself and led clones !!

bye

 5. FEATURE: MILITARY ARTICLE
 ----------------------------

HanGary Moore
"Live" from Hell

- HANGAR 5, VAERNES:
It wasn't fighterplanes that made the sounds in the hangar this time,
but raw riffs from the guitarsquadron Gary Moore.

A lot of strange things have happened in hangar 5 at Vaernes Airbase. Now there's been a rock concert there too. Hell Blues Festival made it big this year, invited the guitarist Gary Moore, and gave him a security clearance good enough for a military hangar.

- Tight riffs
Værnes Airfield hasn't lacked stars, but Gary Moore is probably the biggest one of them. In the inner parts of the Airforce, Captain Moore did more than just clashing airguitar. The riffs from his guitar took off and landed more often than the Saab-planes of the airbase. Not everyone was fully satisfied though. "It's not exactly my kind of music, but he has a few good songs" was the comment from Sergeant Ingrid Bjoernstad. Then she grabbed hold of Corporal Marit Imset and ran into the hangar to hear "Still Got The Blues".

- Rockstatus
Rock concerts might be a thing for the future for Vaernes Airbase. According to a proposal from the military authorities, the Airbase might be reduced to being only a mobilisation airbase in the future. This time there was enough space to let the Blues festival use one of the hangars. "We cleared and cleaned four hundred meters of hangar-floor, and improved the acoustics. Both privates and officers have helped out. We also helped the festival with medical care and guards during the concert" says Major Magne Kjerkreit, who was in charge of the project.

- Well fit for military service
The Airforce had done a good job adjusting rock to a hangar. The sound was very good. Some even felt that the former Thin Lizzy guitarist wasn't good enough for this great concert hall. Still, he was ordered to perfom encores before he was dismissed. A lot of gold and platinum hangs on the walls of his house as a result of impressive recordsales. After this concert he'd deserved to get the Norwegian Armed Forces' medal for well served compulsory military sevice. *

* All young Norwegian men must spend one year in the Army, Airforce or Navy. This is called compulsory military service or conscript. All who finish this year of service get a medal; The Norwegan Armed Forces' medal for well served compulsory military service.   (Translator's comment)
