Gary's Action Zone
------------------------
Welcome!
------------------------
Finally is the album 'Dark Days In Paradise' (DDIP) released here in Europe. But in Japan it's delayed to 25th June, and there is still no info about a US release.
For collectors an era have ended! No vinyl released will be made from DDIP. The last 7" vinyl single was 'Need Your Love So Bad' and the Vinyl album was 'Blues For Greeny'. It's a pity that Virgin have decided to drop these formats on most artists.
I will comment the DDIP album in the next issue, and I am looking forward to get more mails about your opinions about DDIP. Just e-mail me or use the form at the album/singles pages!
We are also planning to release FAQ
regarding Gary Moore during fall '97, so we ask you to send in questions
about Gary Moore 'gaz@sn.no', sooner the better! We will surely remind
you in the future issues of GAZ about our FAQ.
Next issue is planned after 13th June.
Best Regards.......
Ole-Johan...............

URGENT HOT NEWS!!!!
I have just bought GUITARIST magazine here in England and it features Gary Moore on the front cover. There is an interview with him in the magazine, talking about the new album. It is definetely a pop album, sounding a little like Kula Shaker, Everything But The Girl, and with a bit of Jeff Beck, apparently.
Gary's gone POP!
The album is yet to be released, however...

Hi
Just a quick message to say what a
great site you've got going. Getting hold of information on Gary is been
difficult up to now so keep up the good work. I've downloaded some footage
from another site of Gary on the After The War tour in Belfast '89. WHERE
DID THIS FOOTAGE COME FROM???? I saw Gary live for the first time on March
11th in Birmingham on the same tour and would desperately like to see the
video the footage came from. Also do you have a list of Gary's equipment
he may of used in recording / touring? Are you aware that Livin' On Dreams
was released as a remixed 7" single with The Messiah will come again
on the B-Side. just some useless information.!!!!
Aron Gamble, Birmingham, England.
Comment From Ole-Johan:
The Belfast concert was from 9th March
'89 in Kings Hall, this was broadcasted on BBC 1 TV Nothern Ireland 14th
July, and on RTE couple of weeks previously. On the 14th July BBC Radio
Ulster broadcasted as well the tv concert. The concert TV and Radio broadcasted
was an hour long version at the King's Hall. Thanks to Black Rose Issue#2
for this detailed info. Tracks broadcasted was: After The War/Military

Here's my review of new CD-single. Firstly, I want to say that it's pretty difficult for me to ditinguish among styles, so you all take it easy when you see inconsistency of styles I might come up with. Now I don't regret about my buying at all. Moreover, I am happy I bought it. Now, short review. 1. One Good Reason Vocal - Excellent, Vocal is very specificly mixed and it's really great. Instrumental - Great, Hard(more or less). Style - something like "GRUNGE"(not sure about spelling) 2. Burning In Our Hearts Vocal - Great Instrumental - More or less, more likely pop Style - Pop 3. There Must Be A Way Vocal - Excellent, very deep. Instrumental - Great Style - something like "Reagge", but better 4. Beasts Of Burden Vocal - no vocal (=>INSTRUMENTAL) Instrumental - More or less Style - begins like pop and then goes nice guitar-solo The best tracks for me is 2 and 4 (I cannot really choose which is better) My single still smells like just from factory. Considering everything, CD is great! (...though I expected something hard) Thanks Gary for your foresight. You've thought about each of your fan. Enjoy guys!

As I got hold of a promo album sampler with the tracks: 1. One fine day 2. I have found my love in you 3. Always there for you 4. One good reason I will just comment on these: 1 and 4 very good ; a fresher Gary 2 and 3 Quite good but so unusual (latin?) that I suppose I have to get used to them. This looks promising for the forthcoming album. I hope he will keep this style!

Hi friends, I have just heard a few of the new Gary Moore tracks. Following is a short description of each(since the single tracks are already well known I skip these: One fine day: Starts with a oriental theme on guitars and then builds up to a popish tune with a bridge not unsimilar to "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden. At the end the oriental theme gets more and more dominant with tablas and stuff. I have found my love in you: A West coast LA type of ballad but the mix is much drier.Production also allows a few RnB tweaks and synth lead lines and effects. Garys guitar sound is very similar to his "Run for cover" sound. Great tune with a soulful solo. Always there for you: WOW Gary goes Jungle. Starts off with a high pitched high energy drumloop. Then a few sytnt effects and a acoustic piano. Gary sings on top with female choirs in the choruses. The guitar solo at the end is soundwise in the same category as Stevie Ray Vaughans on David Bowies Lets Dance. Interesting still exciting. Gary goes Goa! If you are interested I can Email you RA files of the above tracks Best regards Pär Olsson

Wow, You gotta love the production,Chris T. has done some of my favorites like,"Thunder & Lightning"-THIN LIZZY or "Power & Passion"-MAMA'S BOYS or "Black Tiger"-Y&T...crisp& clear. I thought the single was too short,3 minutes?Very little guitar for a G.Moore number.Avery different style.I do like the Latin and Raggae influence..can this guy play anything or what? But what is he going to do for a set list at a show? Is Virgin U.S. going to release a single here?If so,to what stations?Alternative,AOR?Will MTV play the video if there is one?I can't wait to hear the whole CD. I want Moore,BILL

I have listen to the album a few times and I don't think it's a bad album ( I like the rock GM the most). There are several songs with a ,what they called seattle sound (Nirvana, Oasis) also a song who looks like the U2 sound.( Afraid of tomorrow) I don't know what he will do on the Jazz festivals because I don't think that this music belongs on a Jazz festival. I really like to know of he will contiuning whit this music or that he will change his style again. ( The man did almost every music style now, I think he must choose a direction and make several albums in that style.) I hope he will come to Holland, Germany or Belgium so I can see with my own eyes what it will be live.

first i was a little bit disappointed, because i´m a blues fan and i like gary´s blues style very much. But the more i listen to his new album, the better, i suppose, it is. Various styles are included in this album, rock, pop, reggae, in some songs he is using drum programed backing tracks and slide guitar. In my opinion Gary is not so aggressive as in his Blues period and i like to see (and hear) him play the blues again. His changing to new style is a courage step and i think a Gary Moore fan must buy the album. Ok, that´s it. Does anybody know tour dates in Germany ? Thanks

Dear Ole-Johan,
I can't believe that Gary Moore isn't doing even one gig in the UK. It is really stupid. Why is he playing at jazz festivals when he is currently into a complete different style of music?! I am really annoyed.
I have never seen Gary play live and it is something I have always wanted to do. The day that tickets are available for a UK concert I will be the first person to buy one!
Thanks for the newsflash.
