Welcome!

We are back with second issue of the year, and it's closing down to the album release and even shorther to the single release.
At the 8. February we lanuched the lyrics section on the GAZ page, we hope you check it out and will enjoy it. We couldn't have done it without Arve Akervold, who has supplied the lyrics and he administrate all corrections regarding the lyrics.
We are also planning to release FAQ regarding Gary Moore during fall '97, so we ask you to send in questions about Gary Moore 'gaz@sn.no', sooner the better! We will surely remind you in the future issues of GAZ about our FAQ.
Since the new album is produced by
Chris Tsangerides, is it time with a flashback with an unknown session
with Gary and Chris. A session Chris produced for Karol Kristian, and featured
Gary on Guitar.
Next issue is planned week 15, unless...........

You can expect that one or two of the
non album tracks will feature on the Japanese version of the album.
The March issue of the GUITAR TECHNIQUES magazine (UK) has Gary Moore on the cover and this is because they have chosen to feature a transcription of Gary's track The Loner. This monthly magazine always comes with a CD and this time you are treated to a version displaying The Loner in it's full as well as a "guitar karaoke" version where the lead guitar is removed so that you can play your own lead over the backing track. GT's Dave Kilminster has done a great job transcribing and playing the track.
While on the subject of transcribed
Gary Moore guitar parts it is also interesting to note that Total Accuracy/IMP
has a series of special books where one is exclusively dedicated to the
music of Gary Moore titled "Jam With Gary Moore" (it comes with a CD) for
£18.95. The featured tracks on it are Still Got The Blues, Walking
By Myself, The Loner, Oh Pretty Woman, Story Of The Blues, Cold Day In
Hell, Empty Rooms and Parisienne Walkways. They can be ordered from Total
Accuracy at their address PO Box 58, Romford RM7 7AZ, UK or telephone +44-181-551-6131

Subject: Re: GAZ 9 - My submission...
Thanks very much for including my email on GAZ 9. The response has been amazing. You may like to know about the latest developments to the site...
The site is being updated to every 2 days at least, and it is well worth visiting just to check out how much nearer it is to completion. My hit counter is going up all the time! I suspect that most of the visitors are readers of GAZ because after GAZ 9 was released, the hits suddenly shot up!
I am looking for guitar players and other musicians to send contributions to my site. I cannot possibly do everything by myself, so anything anyone could send me would be much appreciated. I am particularly interested in getting hold of some TAB and decent pictures to decorate the site with.
Most of the files are at GeoCities, and the title page is at http://free.websight.com/davthor.
Once again thanks for giving me a plug!
David Thornton.

Thanks for the update! This may be a stupid question, but is there any word on whether or not this is a rock album? Has anyone any idea what "I have found my love in you" sounds like?
Just Curious
Butch
Comment from Ole-Johan:
There is not much info out about the
new album. A rumor about 'I have found my love in you' is a ballad with
influence of soul.

You wouldn't happen to know whether
any UK tour dates could be coming up
to support this new album ?
Still haven't seem him *live* yet :-(
Comment from Ole-Johan:
No info yet about a tour. Gary did
one concert with Blues for Greeny in UK, the chance are big that will one
or two gigs in UK. I will inform you all, when there are confirmed tour-dates.

FEATURE: Karol Kristian - Session
1981
--------------------------------------
Hello! Oslo, 08.03.97
Gary's session with Karol Kristian is probably one of the rarest and unknown 7" Gary is played on till this date. This 7" is not one of the most expensive, when find this 7" at your local record dealer it will probably cost 10p up to GBP 1,-.
Now it more about the session, I got
first to know it via my Wanted Ad in Record Collector in
1993. A friend of Karol Kristian wrote
to me, and said she had an 7" featuring Gary Moore. She wouldn't part with
the 7", but offered my to get a tape copy of the 7". I thought: interesting,
and I had noting to lose, except GBP 5,- for the tape and postage. So I
responded to her, and I got the tape a week later.
The two tracks from the 7" is:
Love City - (4.13)
The Groove - (3.26)
Both tracks are written by Tony Boden.(Today's
Karol Kristian's husband and they are living today in the US)
Vocal: Karol Kristian, Drums: Tony
Boden, Guitar: Gary Moore, Bass: ?
Both songs are produced by Chris Tsangerides.
and published by Mr. Sam Music.
She also told me that Tony Boden knew Gary that time, and they asked Gary if he would be so kind to help with the guitar parts. Gary said yes, after he had done his job, Gary asked shy if they was pleased with his contribution and if they need more help he would be happy to help out. They very happy with Gary's contribution, but the single flopped and they didn't record anything after that.
Excerpt from Tomoyuki Yamazaki's Interview
with Gary Moore regarding Blues For Greeny in May 1995, where he manage
to get asked a question about Karol Kristian:
"Gary admitted playing on the Karol
Kristian single. He said the reason he played it was because Chris Tsangerides,
who produced Back On The Streets, was producing the single. Karol was some
drummers (Tony Boden) girlfriend. Yet, Gary didn't know it was ever released,
and asked me (Tomoyuki) if it was. I told him I haven't seen an actual
copy of it, only on tape."
Love City is typical 80's pop song,
where the lyrics are based around 'Love City'
Gary gets a solo for 30 seconds from
2.30 out in the song. Except for the lead and rhythm parts he plays.
A fine solo in typical Gary's early 80's style. He has the typical early
plain 80's sound in this song.
The Groove is more like pop song in the G-Force style. Gary guitar are tuned as the typical G-Force space guitar sound. The lyrics are the same build up as 'Love City', very much related to 'The Groove', as theme. Gary gets a solo from 2.10 and for 40 seconds, this is very similar to his G-Force solos and this also fine work by Gary.
Record:
7": Love City/The Groove - Hobo
013 - Hobo Records - UK - 1981
Thanks to Diane Wicks for inform me
about this 7", and to Tomoyuki Yamazaki to take time to ask Gary about
this session in his Blues For Greeny Interview only available in Japanese
Best Regards
