Edinburgh:
PRO-CANNABIS ACTIVISTS HIT CITY'S STREETS
PRO-CANNABIS campaigners are to take to the streets in
Edinburgh in a bid to raise awareness to legalise the
drug.
Members of Legalise Cannabis Campaign Scotland will be
petitioning on Princes Street to seek more support on
Monday.
Linda Hendry, LCCS spokeswoman, said: "We want to
raise awareness in the fight to legalise cannabis because
the present proposal to make it a C class drug does not
mean it is legal.
"The penalties would only be halved if the law was
changed to make it a C class drug."
Their plans come as thousands of people were today
expected to march in various cities across the UK to mark
Cannabis Liberation Day.
The Million Marijuana March is a worldwide event
involving people taking to the streets in nearly 200
(199) cities across the globe.
Marches were due to take place in London, Manchester,
Birmingham and Liverpool.
Across the world marches are taking place in more than 30
countries including the US, New Zealand, Canada, and the
Netherlands.
