One type of small VAWTs, vertical windmill, is presented here.
The turbine has a mechanism for cyclic and wind speed control of the
blade pitch. The turbine is self starting and has a horizontal vane connected
to the pitch mechanism for speed control. The turbine has free yaw function.
A typical 10 kW small VAWT unit can use a 20 poles Permanent
Magnet Generator connected to the main shaft with a 5:1 belt drive.
