Norwegian folklore hit the cinemas in a big way back in 2010 with "The Trollhunter".
This year more is on it's way, with the mystical creature huldra featured in the movie "Thale".
Imagine a seductive female who appears normal from the front, but who also has a cow's tale.
You better be nice to her, or you could pay with your life!
The main man behind "Thale" is director Aleksander Nordaas.

Exactly one year ago I graded 4 x music videos that acted as the opening sequences for the Norwegian Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
These music videos featured beautiful cinematography by DOP Håvar Karlsen, featuring massive Norwegian landscapes and it's local population.
The Norwegian Eurovision TV-shows are produced by Dinamo Eyeworks for NRK.
This year Karlsen teamed up with director Magnus Rye and brought out the big guns!
Director Erik Richter Strand takes us to the dark side of the Norwegian city of Bergen.
Human trafficking, exploitation of young girls and secret societies of high ranking business men are all ingredients in this dynamic story.
Private eye, Varg Veum, is confronted with solving a murder of an unfortunate soul, and in turn gets in to some serious trouble.
The story has a strong link to Bergen, revealing a lot of the special traditions that this west-coast town has.

I love working on short films. The narrative has to be extremely compact, so you have to get straight to the point.
"The Wall" is set in a kind of post-apocalyptic world where food and resources are hard to come by.
The lead character is portraided by Kristian Smedhaugen. He
is fighting for survival in the deserted ruins of what used to be a city.

Towards the end of 2010 the guys behind the successful dark comedy "Dag" shot a feature film called "Fuck Up".
The story is centered around Jack (played by Jon Øigarden) , who is pretty content with life, but needs to cut back on his consummation of women and drugs. Jack's best friend crashes a car on a drug-run and everything goes to hell.
The following 24hrs Jack falls from grace and hits rock-bottom!
In flashbacks he dreams back to when he was growing up with his childhood friends, in an age where everything was perfect. Or was it?

Once again I had the pleasure to work with director Vibeke Heide
on one of her music videos. This time it's for the band Maribel.
Maribel's style is often characterized as atmospheric dream-pop.
I immediately loved the dark-pulse of the song "Jezibel Jive",
which is the first single from Maribel's 2nd LP "Reveries" Due out in 2012 on Splendour.
Director Heide and DOP Janne Lindgren managed to create a small, yet interesting universe that suits the music well. I like the organic, none "flashiness" of the actors performance and the somewhat creepy location.
A simple but very artistic approach.

In this chapter of the movie-series, Norway's favorite private-eye, Varg Veum
ends up in Hungary's capital city, Budapest and finds himself in the middle of an international drama.
The movie is directed by Alexander Eik, who has previously directed two other Varg Veum movies. Eik has also written the script.
The intensity and action level has been turned up to 11!

"Captain Sabertooth" (Kaptein Sabeltann) is Norway's most famous pirate. The man who created the character, Terje Formoe, has built an entire empire around his gold-seeking captain of the high-seas. "Captain Sabertooth" has his own theme-park where thousands of families flock to see the spectacular pirate show in the southern Norwegian town of Kristiansand.
In cooperation with SF Norge, he is back with a new drama TV-series for kids. Norway's largest broadcaster, NRK is airing 26 episodes
featuring exotic new adventures.
"Dag" is back, a new season, full of fresh weird stuff from Dag's rather twisted universe. The marital therapist Dag Refsnes has plenty of demons to handle, he is on the edge, and needs help, fast..... TV2s successful dark-drama-comedy continues.
The series features actor / comedian Atle Antonsen as Dag, Anders Baasmo Christiansen as his one-tracked-mind friend Benedikt,
