Welcome to my home page

I am interested in genealogy and have geared my page with this in mind. I have also included some information about myself, my favourite genealogy software, and a few of my interests outside of genealogy.

Some words about myself.

I am 57 years old, and work as a systemengineer. I was born and raised in Bergen. It is the second biggest city in Norway, located on the west coast in Hordaland county, Norway.

My hobby takes me out to sea several weekends of the year. When home I enjoy taking fishing trips on my boat.

Here is a picture from my cottage.

Genealogy

I have used Brother's Keeper for sometime now, to keep my data in order. I started with the Dos version, but switched to the Windows version after its release. Brother's Keeper is one of the most popular genealogy software programs in Norway. One reason for this is that the program is translated into Norwegian. This was possible through the work done by Otto Jørgensen. You can find his homepage here. There is also a Norwegian homepage for Brother's Keeper. John Steed created the Brother's Keeper software. You can find John's homepage in the United States here.

Brother's Keeper is a shareware program, which means you can try it before you buy. I think the price is $49 U.S. The program can be downloaded from the Norwegian homepage or from John Steed's homepage in the United States.

If you like, you can visit DiS Norge. DiS Norge stands for Data i Slektsforskning Norway, a Norwegian computer genealogy club.

Would you like to check my Ancestors page, in which Places they lived or a part of my (+4000 persons) Family tree? This is mostly in Norwegian but don't let that scare you, if you have any questions, please e-mail me.

I have found most of the information about my family in different bygdebøker(village history books) from my area of Norway .

I have many relatives in USA, but I have not started to locate them yet.
