It was in mid-June 1999, we first visited Antiparos. We have been travelling on the islands for years, but this year we made the first stop at Antiparos. The reason for choosing this island was the fantastic internet pages by Jan Bergtun. Highly recommended !

When we arrived at Antiparos, we checked in at Aegon Inn. A nice, cosy and clean "hotel", centrally situated. The next thing we did was to search the island for the best beaches. After one day, we ended up at Ag. Georgios, 10 km. from Antiparos city on the opposite side of the island. Here, you will find a road crossing a hill from which the most beautiful landscape unfolds; scattered houses and wonderful beaches spreading before you for kilometres.

Ag. Georgios is well protected from strong winds by the uninhabited island Despotiko. The road runs along the beach and there are a few houses with well kept gardens along the road. The area is bought up by "the Goldsmith's Guild" of Athen. A few sites are for sale every year which means that the amount of houses most likely will increase over the years. A superb spot for spending your retirement.

This is where we met Magda Papageorgiou, a bank employee, and Michalis Papageorgiou, a retired goldsmith. Years ago, they come sailing from Despotiko and saw Ag. Georgios as the sun set. "This is where we will spend our retirement", they agreed. And here they are.

They have built their 'villa Delpini' here, 30 m from the beach. In the summer it also serves as an apartment hotel. On the ground floor you will find a kitchen with a cosy dining alcove decorated with sea ornaments. You can have your breakfast here if you like. Magda and Michalis live on the first floor and the top floor with a cosy little annexe is for rent. The rooms are large, clean and well equipped. There is at TV, a kitchen with all necessities, bathroom with hot water and a balcony with a spectacular view.

Are you looking for a quiet place, as far away from noise and tourism as possible ? Ag. Georgios and Delphini Hotel is the right place for you !

Since it is a very popular hotel with only less apartments, I advice you to book as early as possible.
