Another Barnet victory

Barnet won their 4th game of the season, when they beat 3rd Division newcomers Cheltenham 2-1. Barnet took a 2 goal lead after goals by McGleish and Heald, before Brough got Cheltenham back into the game.

Barnet trash York on Underhill.

Barnet beat York 6-3 on Underhill after being 3-2 down at half time. The Barnet goals were scored by Toms, McGleish, heald, Currie, Sawyers and Charlery.

Ipswich bid for Harrison

First division Ipswich are set to make a £600.000 bid for Barnet goalkeeper Lee Harrison. They expect to lose their England U21 goalkeeper Richard Wright to Manchester United, and see Harrison as the ideal replacement.

Barnet out.

The Bees are out of the Worthington Cup despite winning 3-2 in the 2nd leg against Second division Bournemouth this evening. Barnet got the worst possible start, and found themself 2-0 down inn just over 20 minutes after goals from former Chelsea striker Mark Stein. But before the end of the half Scott McGleish had levelled the score with his two goals.
After 18 minutes of the second half did Hackett add the third and this gave the Barnet faithful hope. But it wasn't to be. THe game ended 3-2 and the Cherries was through with 4-3 on aggregate.

Youngsters on trial

Former Arsenal trainees Lee Docherty and Dave Donaldson are on trial at Underhill. The midfielders played well in the reservegame against Fulham last week.

Poole retires

Former Barnet defender/Midfirlder Gary Poole has been forced to quit the game because of the knee injury that has kept him on the sidelines since the end of the 97/98-season.
Poole played for the Bees from 1989 to 1992 and played 153 games. He scored 12 goals.
After one season in the football league he was mysteriously given a free transfer. The rumours suggest it might be one of Flashmans antics, but this is never confirmed.
After his spell at Underhill, he has played for Plymouth, Southend and Charlton. The injury stopped him playing for Charlton in the Premier league.

Lincoln held by Barnet

In the third league game of the season last years divisionn 2 side Lincoln were held to a 0-0 by Barnet despite having a big part of the chances. Lee Harrison in the Barnet goal was the outstanding player on the park.

Barnet reserves lost.

Barnet reserves lost their opening game of the season. They lost 1-0 to Fulham at home.

Olympic swimming pool at Copthall

The government has apparently given approval for a 15000 capacity swimming pool at Copthall. This is where the government rejected Barnet FC's plans for the new football stadium, because it interfered with green belt, and was a disturbance for the neighbours. Barnet FC are of course outraged by the news.

Barnet draw at Underhill

In their first home game of the season, Barnet came back from 2-1 down to draw 2-2 agains Exeter. Barnet took the lead through Scott McGleish in the first half, before Exeter scord in the 59th and the 82nd minute to turn the game. Then five minutes later Greg Heald headed in the equalizer.
Barnet played in a 4-4-2 formation.

Evening Standard has brought the news that Gary Ansell has signed a short term contract for the Bees.

Barnet lost first leg

An early goal from Heyter brought Bournemouth in front at Dean Court on Tuesday. It seemed that the Bees could hold out without another goal against, but in the 72 minute substitute William Huck gave Bournemouth a comfortable win.

Motty joins KBA

BBC presenter John Motson is joining the KBA-campaign. Campaign leader Mike Edwards will have a meeting with Motty very soon, and there is a hope that it will boost the chances to save the club from beeing thrown out of the league.

Bees win 2-0

Barnet beat Chaster 2-0 in the opening game of the season. The goals were scored by Charlery after 19 minutes and Arber in the 44 min. Barnet is in 2nd place after Brighton, who impressed in their 6-0 win against Mansfield.

A very young Barnet team beat Hitchin 4-3 in a friendly on Tuesday. The goals was scored by Strevens (2), King and Lee Pluck

Barnet lost to Spurs reserves

Barnet lost 1-0 to Spurs reserves in a friendly on Monday. Just over 1500 people saw a strong Tottenham side including players such as Ruel Fox, Espen Baardsen, Stephen Clemence, John Scales, Luke Young, Ledley King and Moussa Saib.
In the first half Barnet played well, but in the second Tottenham stepped up a gear and in the end deserved their 1-0 victory.
