Barnet-Hitchin 4-3 |
Goals |
|
Against Hitchin on Tuesday we fielded a very young team. Hitchin went two up in 15 minutes, but the bees fought back and won the game 4-3 after goals from Strevens(2), King and Lee Pluck. The highllight of the game was the striking partnership of King/Strevens. They played well together, but unfortunately Still wasn't there to watch.

Boreham Wood-Barnet 1-1 |
Goals |
|
Barnet played Boreham Wood in a friendly on Saturday. It turned out to be a dull affair, who ended in a 1-1 draw.
Barnet played with several reserves and a couple of trialists. On of them was former bee, Hakan Hayrettin.
The Barnet goal, scored by Danny Brown was a bit of a talking point. The ball was played into the box where a defender handballed it. The Barnet fans were all shouting for a penalty but Brown reacted and blasted it into the corner.
The game was played in 30 degrees and thunderstorm.

Barnet-Reading 0-0 |
Goals |
|
On Wednesday night we played Reading at Underhill, and the game ended in a goalless draw. Reading had the most of the play, but failed to create many clearcut chances.
Near the end they had their best chance when they hit the post. Barnet also hit the post with a Mark Arber header.
Former Barnet midfielder Lee Hodges played for an hour, but in general his contribution was limited.
In our defence the trio Hackett, Arber and trialist Matthew Stowell was impressive. Their distribution was much better than what we have been used to in recent years. In midfield our Man of the Match Frazer Toms stood out, while in attack Charlery and McGleish failed to impress. Gary Ansell could't follow up his previous games, but he worked hard the short time he got in this game and he should have done enough to convince John Still.
John Doolan and Reading striker Keith Scott were sent off/substituted by the ref in the first half.

Barnet-Charlton reserves 2-1 |
Goals |
|
The game against Charlton was a dull affair for about an hour. Then Gary Ansell made his entrance. First he was involved in the build up when a Chalton defender put us 1-0 up. And then he provided the cross that set up Danny Brown for a brilliant second. SIGN ANSELL NOW!!
Other impressive players were Hackett, Harrison and former YTS player Lee Gledhill.

Barnet-Luton 1-0 |
Goals |
|
Barnet beat Luton 1-0 at Underhill on Friday after a goal by trialist Gary Ansell. He is a former Stockport player. There wasn't too many chances in the game. In the first half Marlon King had the best.
Greg Heald went off after 12 minutes suffering from double vision while former Northern Ireland international Phil Gray elbowed Danny Chapman so Chapman had to leave the ground.
In the second half Scott McGleish had the best chance apart from the goal. And John Doolan missed a penalty in an otherwise good performance by him.
Other than that Mark Arber and Danny Brown played well. All in all a good performance by the bees.

Billericay-Barnet FC 0-0 |
Goals |
|
Barnet drew 0-0 in a friendly Thursday. Barnet dominated the match, but couldn't score. In fact Billericay was closest to scoring while they were awarded a penalty. They missed it. They even got two chances after the referee ordered it retaken, but still missed.
The central defense consisting of Mark Arber and Greg Heald looked impressive, while the strikers Charlery and Strevens were less impressive.
