Barnet Fan Club of Norway

  Former players

      Goalkeepers - Defenders - Midfielders - Strikers

Goalkeepers:

In Barnet's brief history in the Football league they've had quite a few good goalkeepers. Gary Phillips was the first one. After him, Maik Taylor and our current keeper, Lee Harrison stands out. Andy Pape and Paul Newell never quite lifted themselves to that level.

Defenders:

In the Barry Fry days, the defensive play was never the greatest priority. Players such as Bodley, Howell and Nugent was never greats, but as the team has got more defensive, we have started to produce some quality defenders.
The best central defender I have seen in a Barnet shirt is Linvoy Primus. That he is still playing in the lower divisions is more due to top sides looking to Europe for players instead of looking in the lower divisions. Other quality defenders are Alan Walker and Lee 'Ginola' Howarth. Both left Barnet for Non-league clubs.
At full back, we've had players like Gary Poole, Richard Huxford and the underrated Dominic Naylor.

Midfielders:

When we first came into the league, we had a great midfield, containing amonst others Paul Showler, Derek Payne and Kenny Lowe. Showler was one of the greatest crossers of the ball in english football. Kenny Lowe was often compared to Glenn Hoddle, and Derek Payne who never failed to give 100%. On that time we also had Jonathan Hunt, who rarely had the chance to shine in a Barnet shirt. The reason why I mention him here is that he has gone on to better things and even played a lot of games in the premier league, with Derby County.
In the later years we have had players like Peter Scott, Lee Hodges, and the amazing winger Gerard McMahon, who spent three months at Barnet on loan from Tottenham.

Strikers:

The attacking partnership of Gary Bull and Mark Carter was exiting and effective during the early days in the football league. They left for Nottingham Forest and Bury respectivly. It took a few years before we had players of that quality again. In Ray Clemence' short spell as a manager, Doug Freedman arrived from QPR. He is probably the greatest striker in the history of the club.
