Renu Nakhon is 52 kms south from Nakhon Phanom and lies just 15 kms from Thad Phanom. If your`re driving, take Highway 212 from Nakhon Phanom and at the 44 km stone turn right on Highway 2031, for about 7 kms. This is the town where the Phu Thai etnic group live. They still maintain their old culture such as the customs of "Bai Sri Sukwan", making Rice Whiskey, Phalaeng Dinner and traditional Phu Thai dancing. There are many locally produced goods, and there are plenty of souvenir shops around the Wat Prathad Renu and the market.

Prathad Renu in Ban Renu Nakhon was built in 1918 and modelled on Prathad Phanom. It`s 35 meters high and 8,37 metres wide with 4 gates. It is used to enshrie the sacred scriptures and golden Buddha images in it`s pagoda. In the ordination hall are enshired the beautiful Buddha images of ra Ongsaen.
