There is a moment when we engage ourselves totally in an action, when we, as Roy Hart said, “Let go and Sing!”

How to come to that moment? re-enforce it? repeat it?

"Beyond Technique" is a personal and flexible approach to teaching inspired by Grotowski’s claim that “There exists no set of exercises that will ultimately lead to the human act”. What does Grotowski, with his reputation as the inventor of so many acting exercises, mean by “the human act”? What does he mean by “exercises”? - yoga? prayer? singing? I don’t know, but I know that there comes a defining moment beyond technique and therapy when we can take the decision to BE, and it is that moment that interests me most.

"Beyond Technique" is an approach for people who have their own technique that they feel secure in, and are interested in finding out what it can convey. It requires a great deal of personal work, and so does not follow the usual workshop format. There are three sessions each year at Malérargues, in April, July/August and January. Please contact me for precise details, or questions.
