Large amounts of snow are pretty much guaranteed in Jølster every winter if you want to go skiing so the house would be a good base for both cross country and downhill skiers with three ski lifts at Årdal, Vassenden and Utvikfjellet 5, 20 and 40 minutes drive away respectively.
