Golden Eagles and other large raptors can be seen riding the thermals above the ridge at the back of the house, usually at migration time, plus, as with most wildernesses, you never really know what else there is around until you actually get into it and see for yourself. Deer, Hare, Weasels, Stoats, Mice and Lemmings in the field by the house and as for birds, apart from those already mentioned, since we've been encouraging the birds to come to the house's bird feeders for a few years now, we regularly get Redpoll, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Siskin, Bullfinch, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Marsh/Willow Tit (if you can help us with a positive identification, we'd appreciate it!) on the feeders. Otherwise, we have the usual Pied Wagtails, Snipe, Fieldfare, Redwing, Pied Flycatcher, Green Woodpecker, Greater Spotted Woodpecker. Up the mountain you can hear Ptarmigan and Grouse and Hooded Crow, Magpie, Curlew, Dipper, Oystercatcher, various waders and ducks and other water fowl are never far away.

There are plenty of Bats around in the summer and the field is full of wild flowers (help yourself to small quantities of seeds if you want).
